dynamo hs-4 cabinet aka big boy cabinet...would this fit?
« on: June 14, 2006, 10:15:08 am »
Quick question for you guys/gals, the wife-to-be and myself are about to close on a house and in response to this I picked up a "bigger" cabinet the dynamo hs-4 or as I've seen referenced here as the "big boy cabinet".  Currently I have a 25" arcade monitor shoehorned into an old P.O.W. cab and figured I'd just drop this one into the new cab...but saw this  Betson/Imperial multisync 27" monitor (guess a direct competitor to the d9200).  My question is would this monitor fit into this slightly larger cabinet with minimal modifications...I would measure it out but its in storage right now (wouldn't  fit in the apartment).  On a side note any XP with this particular monitor?

Also does anyone have any info on these cabs, as I havn't found much thru the usual channels (google.this forum, etc)

thanks

I think most people consider the generic Dynamo cabs to be just that. Since they were set up to be used with any game and to be easily serviced, they should be awesome for a MAME project or generic JAMMA cab.

Only info I've ever really seen on the "big boy" is the sales flyer:

http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=thumbs&id=4831

It doesn't give much info besides the dimensions but at 34-1/2" wide, I would think fitting a 27" in there would be no problem. It'd be similar to the "shoehorning" of the POW cab I'm guessing. Modifiying the monitor mounts and the bezel would do it. Then again, it was made for a 25", so if you're planning on REPLACING the POW cab, the 25" should just drop right in.

Brevity is not my strong suit.

Thanks for the info and the link, I was thinking of replacing the monitor (its second hand off of ebay) in favor of that multi-syncing monster but would like to avoid another "butchering" in my gameroom.  Now I may be taking this thread beyond its original idea but is there a mulitsync arcade monitor in the 25" range?

thanks,
