The lettering of "build your own arcade controls" and stuff around that side's border seems small.

I know these have already been blinged etc, but I just thought I'd mention it because of the date on last year's tokens being too tiny. I know this text isn't as tiny as the date, but when I compare it to the text on the previous tokens, it definitely looks smaller. It's much smaller than the same text on the 2004 tokens and also smaller than the text on the 2005 (which is smaller than the 2004).

I look at the "build your own arcade controls" on an actual 2005 token and the letters are pretty tightly squeezed together. If this text is going to be even smaller than that, I wonder about its readability.

Just an observation before these get sent to the mint.

I went for the combo.

The "if we don't order ..." description was a bit weird there though. It claims that you get 500 of what is ordered. Guess I should hope that either one is not ordered

are we doing anything similar to last year where some folks said they'd take all nickel if it helped the chance of ordering? There was no "official" talk of it last year, but I remember a lot of folks saying it.

I'm in the same boat I was in last year... if given the choice, I'm going to order a 100/100 split, but if 200 nickel means I'd have a better chance at actually getting nickel, i'd do it no problem.

Any opinion on this from you Santoro? If I, say, ordered a split, but your numbers were close to ordering both metals, will you let us know? So maybe some folks could change their orders if they wanted?

Do you still need this? I think I have the editable file at work and can get it on Wednesday if you still do, but it looks like the blinged final drawings are in.

We are about 60% of the way there to break on ordering only brass, and 20% to getting both. I will put a post out on Usenet, that might help. The demand comes in waves, I'll bet there will be another surge of orders when everyone gets back in the office on Wednedsay after the US holiday. Lots of slackers goofing off at work around here .

Uh Oh.

The mint we use raised prices by 16%. I will be looking into 1) negotiating a better price, 2) other suppliers, and 3) pricing adjustments over then next few days. Until then, the ordering site is down.

Those that have already placed preorders will be given an opportunity to get a refund if we decide we need to raise prices. I will email all those affected with options (hopefully) within a week.

I apologize for this hiccough. I will do whatever I can to keep the price as low as I can. I can only guess that Brass prices have gone up significantly... I know precious metals have.

No metal is more precious than our precious BYOAC tokens!!!!

Quick math shows that 16% on a 200 count lot is about $5.50. I speak only for myself when I say I'm OK with that. Especially with this years awesome designs. So if that means I have to send a second paypal for the diff, let me know.

They must be using some sort of gas powered minting process. I blame everything else on gas prices so why not this too.

With some help from Google, I discovered that Brass is made from Copper and Zinc. It seemes that the price of copper in the commodities market has almost tripled since 2004, and zinc has gone up a lot too, so it seems price increases will probably be unavoidable. I am actually surprised they kept the prices where they were through last year.

I will work the new pricing this week and notify everyone. If the pricing redcues demand a lot, it may be harder to reach our break-even. Let's cross our fingers.

Not to sound like a total nickel fanboy, but will the nickel prices (from the mint, not to us) be different or lower? I'm not sure what metal they nickel plate for these coins.... is it just nickel plated brass? Or another, maybe cheaper metal?

Just let us know what happens Santoro, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you won't lose many orders because of this unless the price jump gets crazy.

Yes, I decided to just up the prices, I have been very happy with my supplier, and I already got feedback from a few companies that the price increases are across the board in the industry.

I did spread the price increases out so as to decrease the impact the more you buy. The site is back up for ordering/preordering.

edit: I will sent emails to those who already preordered with a few options tonight.

Nickel Tokens are actually nickel plated brass. The nickel cost differential stayed the same for some reason. My pricing has always been blended rather than maintaining separate prices for the two metals. If we order nickel, my profit margin goes down. At this point in my life that's better for me than the complexity of managing different pricing.

Not to say that I may not do it differently in the future. I am toying with various pricing models in my mind at the moment.... I may move to a slicker cart-based arrangement with 100 lots only, for example. If you want 500, you add five to the cart, etc. To change all that I need to research Cart software, doink around with my paypal shipping settings, etc. I dunno, we'll see.
