Mame cab coin mech help
« on: June 10, 2006, 03:20:08 pm »
Hello

I was wondering if anyone can advise me on connecting a MS111 to my mini-pac, I have sucessfully powered up the coin mech and when I put money in it the counter works.

I have traced the wires back into the coin validator and have five wires, they are as follows.

Green/black - connected together (I have this connected to my PC's ground)
Green - this is also connected to the ground as when traced it is connected to a nut
orange - this is connected to the PC's +12 (yellow wire)
brown - when traced goes to the counter (I assume this is the metre wire)

White - this is the issue, I know that this is the only wire left so it must be credit but I am a bit worried about connecting it to my mini-pacs coin 1 wire as I don't want to blow it up, can anyone advise if I have the wires correct please and if so is it safe to connect the white wire to my mini-pac.

I saw a thread that managed to connect a ms111 to an i-pac but the wires were all different colors to mine and the board was also different.

In that thread the green wire was connected to the i-pac, this is what is worrying me, as my green wire is connected to my black wire and also the other wire that goes to the ground nut, is this correct, if I had the credit wire connected to the ground wire (which is what I am worried about), would it still work?

I have posted a pic of the whole thing and the coin control wiring, as you can see this looks well old.

thanks in advance

Shane

SOK

I figured it brown = metre (not required, unless you want your cab to make cool clicky noises when you put a pound in it), orange= +12 (connected to yellow from PC power supply), black= earth(connected to black from PC power supply), green= ground(also connected to black from PC power supply, not sure how safe this is but didn't know where else to put it), white = credit(will be connected to coin one on my mini-pac any moment, wish me luck!)

Anyway thought I'd update Just in case anyone else needs the info.

Cheers
Shane

As far as power ground / earth ground, you probably have them flipped.  However, it is perfectly safe to connect them together in this situation since PC power supplies always tie their power common to the earth ground line on the incoming power plug (which darn well should be connected appropriately in the outlet).

MonMotha, many thanks for your reply that makes me feel alot safer as I already wired it up and the PC didn;t blow up and my mini-pac still functions...

Woahhoo I did it well pleased

1 pound gives me 7 credits and 20pence gives me 1 credit (although I still have a button for credits rigged up, me thinks that can go now), pay to play sweet(even though I got the key), authentic and very sexy

I now got a big money box that does a lot more than bring a hand out of a coffin to get me 20p:grin:

for those of you that want to check me dodgy wiring, I have uped some images :laugh2:

Still it works

Cheers Shane
