Spincade Status
« on: June 05, 2006, 06:51:19 pm »
:) Hello all, just wanted to post since I haven't in a loooong time now!  To update the folks who have been hounding me :hissy: about the current and future status of Spincade products--YES they will be released!  :applaud:  Most likely by late 3rd quarter this year.  I am still planning to offer the monitor brackets, Tron joystick bases, and of course, the Spincade cabinets.

Last year's sales were a bit premature, leaving me overwhelmed and unable to run the whole show myself.  So I have regrouped, redesigned, found new vendors, and obtained outside funding which should bring Spincade to a place where it can sustain itself and grow without obscene pricing schemes (or putting me on the street!  :o )  This means that the new, improved version of the Spincade cabinets will be available at a much better price point than before.  (More on that when we get closer to shipping!)

We are currently working our little @$$es off at the Spincade labs to perfect and dummy-proof the Spincade cabinets, in hopes that everyone (us included) will be thoroughly satisfied with the quality and functionality of the machines.  This is the main reason why there has been a lack of updates, and I apologize to those who have been waiting, but I would rather make announcements when the products are actually ready to ship, rather than continuing to hype products :blah: that are still in the prototype stage.

Thanks all of you who have continued to support this project--the wait will be worth it!  ;)

Sweet! So, just to clarify: by Tron joystick bases, you mean the base that has a restrictor plate (or however it works) that allows 8 way, but restricts somewhat to 4 way so we can play the game properly, even the light cycle phase?

The sticks will likely be available in two versions: a lower cost 8-way version (basically a modified super) and a 49-way version that will work with GroovyGameGear's control boards with Digital Restriction.  As I recall, there is a Tron-compatible mode that allows normal 4-way use with the diagonals registering only when pressed deep into the corners.

That 49-way 'tron' type stick is pretty much exactly what I've been waiting for.  Any idea on a rough cost estimate?

I don't want to start estimating costs again until we're on the verge of selling, but it will be significantly less than buying the whole Happ Tron setup.
