Arcade Auction in St. Louis - lots of pics
« on: June 04, 2006, 02:41:45 am »
For those in the know - there was an arcade auction in St. Louis. I went to the last one they had and it was very much a sellers market - this time around it seemed there were good deals to be had for buyers.

Not a lot of great well known games and a ton of mame ready cabinets. Quite a few selling for $10.

I know most of the prices of what these sell for (I left them in the car). Check out some of these pics:

There were about 3 rows of standup arcade games like this:

Some cocktails (the pac-man sold for $475 and I didn't think it was in the greatest shape), the rest of the cocktails sold for $85 or less. One non working space invaders sold for $10

Another cocktail shot (I really need a new camera)

Some Classics:

Unexpected dartboards - they sold from $150 - $400

Quite a few pinballs - I'd say about 40-60 working and about non-working. I saw a twilight zone sell for $2,200 and Star Wars sold for almost $2,000

The row of junkers (I didn't get to see what they sold for). If I had to guess these went cheap

I kind of wanted this Gorf junker. I'd love to get a Gorf still -

Nice shape - junker tempest cabinet

I loved this game - Point Blank - it sold for $250 and worked well. I think thats worth it. What do you think?

Ok - I saved the best for last.... check this out. Seriously - this is the biggest frogger ever. It was in a showcase cabinet. I didn't get a chance to bid on it (I left to eat) but I was shocked to see what it sold for:

It sold for $110... wtf? $110! it had at least a 25" monitor on it's side (maybe a tv) in good shape. The whole cabinet was in great shape. I think $110 is cheap. See the cockpit Spy Hunter next to it? $185 for it. I thought that was reasonable for a good working spy hunter sit down. I played a few games of it - I still suck.

Next is what I expect a frogger to look like:

I didn't see how much this one sold for....

All in all it was a cool auction. Nice to see the bidding not getting too out of hand. Ms. Pacman and Pacman cabs were selling in the 400 range (in various conditions, but all playable). Pole Position selling in the high 100's. Saw a brand new Sit Down Off Road game for $1,400. There were a couple 4 player X-men style cabs there selling for around $100. Real good place to start for a larger cabinet - I may grab something next time. ( I say that everytime).

Going to these auctions as a BYOAC'er is tough... you see these cabinets that are selling for $10 and you look at things like the coin door, plexi glass, power supply, monitor, etc. and find the value in these individual components. It would be so easy to have a garage, living room, yard full of junk...

Anyhow, just wanted those who didn't, couldn't or never been to one to see what they were missing. Did anyone here go?

I regret not going to that now.

Doh! What would you have got? The auction before this one was awful if you were looking for deals. But, it also had more good games to choose from.

I wanted to find out how much the Tornado Foosball table sold for.... anyone know?

I am not sure. It seems like I might have been able to snag a couple of projects for relatively cheap. I would also like to get a pin, but those damn things can get expensive.
