I am waiting, and have been waiting for 2....I want 2 spinners on my cab (for driving games, ikari warriors, and 2 player spinner games).

It's been like a month since GGG has had spinners in stock. I wish you can preorder

Since you also want 2....

what other games are you wanting to play? I think puzzle loop, and puzzle bobble work with 2 spinners, there is some breakout games like off the wall and some japanese version of arkanoid. Just curious what games your wanting to play?

These are 2 player spinner + 8way/topfire games:

Ikari Warriors 1/2/3
Time Soldiers
 Heavy Barrel
T.N.K. III
Gondomania
Forgotten Worlds
Downtown
Caliber 50
Guerilla War

2 player paddle/dial games:

Pong
I think there is a bootlegg arkanoid (or a clone) that is simultaneous 2 player

pretty much any driving (especially super sprint), I think there is a bootlegg arkanoid (or a clone) that is simultaneous 2 player,

How is playing Super Sprint with a spinner? Seems like it would be tough considering how tiny the spinner is.

Actually, it's not too bad. Especially when you play Super Sprint like I do (spin the wheel as hard as you can into the turns).

I play with a SlikStik Tornado, and it feels pretty good.

No, these are all rotary joystick games, and most (all?) use one rotary joy and two buttons, per player.  You can play them with a spinner, but that's not the way they worked in the arcade.

some 2 player spinner games (spinners or paddles, not steering wheels):

Blasteroids
Off The Wall (Bally Sente) (uses two spinners)
Off The Wall (Atari) (uses three spinners)
Puzz Loop
Arkanoid Returns
Warlords (uses  up to FOUR paddles, for four players)
Two Tigers (some machines had steering wheels, some had spinners)
Forgotten Worlds (uses push-to-fire spinners)
Pong

A rotary is basically a joystick that you can "twist". In games like Ikari and Time Soldiers, it allowed you to move in one direction and shoot in another...not a real good description here but I tried.

Xam touched on what it is, but his description might be a bit confusing.

A rotary stick IS an 8 way joystick.  However, the joystick handle can also rotate as well as move in the 8way movement.

What that means in gameplay like Ikari warriors is you can push the joystick forward in order to move your character forward, and rotate your character at the same time in order to shoot to the left, right, or down directions.

I'm looking to buy a Turbo Twist in about three months, depending on how much $ I have to sink into the cab in the meantime. ;)

Looks like the spinner got a good review on Retroblast too.  :)

Does Puzzle Bobble work with spinners?  I tried to get it to work and couldn't using Mame .87

Not meaning to hijack.  Also, I have listed and made comments about a bunch of spinner games at the bottom of my Hillbilly Spinner article on Retroblast!

I think a topfire (or flight stick) plus spinner is a great alternative to a rotary joystick....

Yes, it works quite well in fact.  You have to go into the game's service mode using F2 to change it to use the spinner instead of joystick.

Nevermind, I was thinking of PuzzLoop.  :-[

I'm waiting for one, right now I have a gaping hole in the middle of my CP, waiting for a spinner. I contacted Randy and was told he was supposed to get them at the end of this week. Hopefully he gets them in soon, and lots of em.

Spinners are up for ordering.  First ones out will ship tomorrow or the next day at the latest.

Be sure to refresh your browsers on the order page.  The spinners are shipping with a different knob that looks better and spins truer than the previous one.  It's a little bigger, so the feel is somewhat different.

Too many complaints about the appearance of the original one, even though technically its size is more true to the arcade for games like Tempest.  But the new one should strike a pretty even balance between Tempest and Arkanoid-style knobs.  It was always a toss-up between these two, so now I guess we'll see if this would have been the better choice ;)

Neat! Is the white circle on the dial indented or raised? It's hard to tell from the picture.

If those are the knobs I've seen elsewhere, they're indented, so you can spin the dial with your finger.

Just pick up some carriage bolts at the hardware store. I don't have mine in front of me so I can't tell you the diameter, but there are definately four holes in the top for the bolts to go through. The top of the spinner will mount gainst the bottom of your control panel. You'll need to raise the knob (and remove it when munting), do that by loosening the two hex bolts on the side of flyweight.

FYI...you only have to remove the one hex bolt on the side of the flyweight that is closest to the knob, not both of them. ;)

Right.  Only the top set screw should be loosened.

No hardware is provided as there are multiple mounting possibilities based on individual need.  In a wood cp, the simplest way is to just drill a hole for the shaft to come through and use wood screws from the bottom.  A narrow philips head screwdriver will slide right up through the bottom holes and provide access to the screw heads.

4 - 1" wood screws from the underside and it will never budge ;)
