Help with a Hagstrom KE72 or Mame32 Conf
« on: March 04, 2003, 11:11:19 pm »
I've got a hagstrom KE72 and I'm having some difficulties with is and was wondering if I'm just missing something in the Mame32 config.

I have mapped up, left, right, down to A, B, C, D (for testing since A-D are mapped to the first 4 inputs on the Hagstrom and I wanted to test it out before sitting down to do the config.) respectively in MS-Pacman.  I have a Happ Super hooked up and at least in notepad all the inputs apprear to be firing just fine (which is why I think this is a mame config issue).  The problem is that when I attempt to play MS-Pacman the inputs don't fire consistantly.  I can only get movement about 1 in 10 pushes of the jokstick (maybe less but eventually it does go).  Is there some config in Mame32 I'm missing?

Thanks,
Zinfari

Are you sure you don't have anything else mapped to ABCD?

I just double checked and I had missed one D... but I removed that and still the same thing.  I guess I'll program the KE72 inputs to be the arrow keys and see if that makes a difference...  I can't do that until tomorrow unfortunately since I forgot to grab a 9pin serial cable.

If anyone thinks of anything else let me know.

Make sure you're directing the KE72 to hold the key down as long as the input line is high, i.e.

IN01:[(+)A]
IN01|[(-)A]
IN02:[(+)B]
IN02|[(-)B]
IN03:[(+)C]
IN03|[(-)C]
IN04:[(+)D]
IN04|[(-)D]

Thanks for the reply.  I think I have it taken care of, but it was very odd.  As long as I used the default config (i.e. input 1=A, input 2=B, etc) I was having a problem.  However once I actually downloaded a config everything started working fine other than input 1 which was fried.  So I think the real issue was probably something to do with the chip that the first input was using.  Once I downloaded 2-72 worked great.  Support at Hagstrom was good, they walked me through a few things then told me to send it back.
