like the title says. Ridge racer is one of my dream games and I have a chance to buy it but the opening to my family room is only 34". Does anyone know if it can be disassembled enough to fit?
I don't know if you know this but I'm sort of a big deal. I own many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Ridge racer comes in more than one sit down cabinet design.... which one is it?? the smaller of them will go through a 32" wide door.

I didnt know there was more than one version. I mean the big one with the 33" monitor. and the shifter on the side.

You can disassemble that one and it will then fit through 36" ...... But you'll struggle with fitting it through 34".  You might have to take the door off and knock the frame out to get it to go.

To be honest it's not that great a game that it's worth doing that for.

that ebay auction you linked to was the cabinet I was thinking about buying. That was my question.
I know the game isnt that great but I love the cabinet and the six speed shifter. Im sure I would have eventually tried to hook up a ps2, but I dont think Im going to bid because Im not sure how I could get it into my family room.

Where are you located muell67? I assume that you must be somewhere near Mountain Home if you were thinking about bidding, unless you wanted to pay $700 in shipping. The reason I check out his auctions is because he is kind of in my neck of the woods. I have been wondering if I was the only Arkansan on the boards here. Are you a fellow Arkansan?

Im actually in southern Il. It would have been about a 200mille drive for me. I really like that cabinet though. Im considering adding sliding doors to the room just so I can get it in.

THATS THAT ATTITUDE!

but before I would buy one, I would go to an auction.  I see a lot of sit down cabs in the cincinannati area.  Sure this one looks great, but I bet you would find one that doesn't require a 1000 repair to the house.

BUT

some door frames are easy to take down / put up.  you might consider taking the door down for 2 hours... and put it back up when your done... but you might not get the extra inch and half you need.

Get a chainsaw and a blindfold, you'll either cut the cade in half or make a new start for a bigger door. Either way, that'll be the end of that question.

J/K obviously you KNOW the predicament you're in and your options, what more is there to say.

Why not make a tunnel under your house!

And then make a false floor in that room that leads to the room.  Once the cab is in the house, you can turn the tunnel into an underground-fall-out-arcade-room.    8)

That is what I would do!

Yeah, then make it look like a pipe on one side and put your Mario Bros. & Donkey Kongs down there and on the dirt side, put your Diggerman and Dig-Dug.

you can get an inch or three by removing the door from it's hinges, and then removing the door's trim and casing from the wall.  Usually outside doors come with a frame/casing around them, and then they are set in place, balanced and squared, and then trimmed in to make it match the rest of the wall.

It'll be a big pain in the ass, but you can get a few more inches this way.
Bitten by the cabinet bug... obsessing ever since.
