Control Panel Hook-Up Diagrams
« on: May 06, 2006, 09:20:04 pm »
Has anyone bothered to make and post diagrams that show exactly what is connected to what in their control panel.

Specifically something that shows all connections for the controls using a Mini-PAC.

***I mean an actual diagram of the Mini-PAC with each pin numbered.(The 39 pins, as well as the 9 pins).

And a second diagram of a control panel layout where each switch has a number corresponding to the Mini-PAC pins in the first diagram.

Thanks.

Darren

Pin 25 on the Mini-pac wires to the "O" button and pin 29 goes to the "K" button. That's all you need.  ;D
Now in a tasty new flavour.

But where on your CP did you put the "O" and the "K" buttons?

The beautiful thing about building your own arcade machine is you get to BUILD YOUR OWN.  Read a lot on how others have laid out their controls and decide what is best for you.  There isn't a one layout fits all approach you will have to compromise on something.  As far as mini-pac wiring goes.. here is a link to it

If anyone has that diagram I mentioned, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

As mentioned before.

It's ALL right here . . . . http://www.ultimarc.com/mp_inst.html

Is there something else specific you are asking or do not understand on the diagram? ???

Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Perhaps like the previous poster you did not understand the question. All I can do is ask you to re-read the original post.

ummm....  YOU were the previous poster.  Perhaps if you tell us why you want said diagram, it might help us give you the information.

Did you ever think that if you are the only one that understands the question, that maybe the problem is the way you asked it?

That link is the hook up diagram. Where ever you want player 1 button 1 to be on your cp, you hook it up to player 1 switch 1. Same for player 2 button 1. And so on.

Here is a diagram for 2 player 6 button layout with the top row being 1 through 3 and the bottom being 4 through 6

        123            123
joy1 ooo     joy2 ooo
        ooo            ooo
        456            456

If you need something more than this, you are going to have to totally rephrase your question because nobody has a clue what you are asking for.

It seems to me...that the original poster, would like more of a pictogram than diagram. I'm thinking he wants pics of the completed cp hookup....and for someone to label all the wires for him. This would make it so that he does not have to think at all when hooking up his own cp.

Seriously, there are plenty of posts here to guide you through this...and should you encounter problems along the way...I know of a few guys here, that are more than willing to offer help.

Sometimes there is a bit of heckling...but the help does come....let the heckling roll off your back (sometimes it is too funny not to laugh at) and then take the advice, apply it to your machine.

The answer is...no...no one is going to do your work for you...unless you pay them maybe.

If I am wrong in my assumption of what you are asking for...please do not read the above post.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner....

The original poster refuses to clarify his own question, but demands answers. That type of attitude will get anyone shut down.
An ounce of image is worth a pound of performance.

Yeah, I'm not sure if this is a setup question or what.  Searcher has been a member since March of 2002.  Either he's trying to find all the smart asses, or he really doesn't get the idea of this site.  Nothing wrong with the question per say, just the arrogance that goes with it.  I've bothered to photograph everything.  You're more than welcome to use the search.

I can see that there are a lot more trolls here than there used to be. And the arrogance so far hasn't come from me.(But that can change). And I've been a member a lot longer than since 2002, and probably had that Ultimarc diagram(that someone linked to) copied before many of you were members here.

There really is no way to dumb-down the question, so I'll just leave it alone. Perhaps someone show understands what he reads will actually answer it with a yes(with a link) or a no and leave out the smart-ass remarks. But at this point I'm not going to hold my breath.

I wouldn't want you to pass out.  I don't really know you, had correspondence with you, or seen you around lately.  So, you are right, there are many smart asses here, but there is more than enough help.  Actually, I don't really care who you are.  (Saint, Howard, someone please shed some light).  If you would like to be arrogant, be my guest, but when we ask for more info or background, don't be a jerk, just answer the question.  They just want to know why you would like the info.  Who cares? :lame:

FWIW, 2-26-02 was the day the forums switched.  Anyone that was registered before that, shows that date as the day they registered.  It has also lead to some people (MattP) making wild ass guesses about certain people having more than one sign on.

Here is a quote from Saint in another thread recently.
For what it's worth, Searcher7 is one of the old foggies of this hobby . . .

--- saint

I understand the question, but have not seen the diagrams that he is looking for.  But as I have not hooked up a Mini-pac before, I haven't specifically looked for it either.

Allright, I'll respect the guy.  I hate when you can sense an attitude on someone just based on their typing.  I hope he finds his answer.

Here are pics of my cp using an ipac2. I think that is a mini-pac, not sure though.

The grounds are just that and the joysticks of course go to the  R,L,U,D. Buttons 1-6 on each side go to the respective player's buttons.

Like this...
1 2 3
4 5 6

Buttons 7 and 8 on each side go to the top four admin buttons. Start goes to the start button for each player. I have the coins hooked up to two buttons, each on the outside of the player start buttons. The two buttons on the inside of the player start buttons are the trackball's left and right buttons.

Hope that helps or is what you are looking for.
