Cabinet Plans Project
« on: March 01, 2003, 05:49:12 pm »
I have begun an attempt to create plans for the classic arcade cabinet sides.  Here are a few I have drawn up.

These plans were drawn in vector format.  My original intent was to offer computer cut cabinet sides w/custom graphics and t-molding but at this time I am too busy to take that seriously.  I intend on making all these plans available to anyone who wants them in various cad formats.

Right now I need help getting dimensions and direct side on shots.  I know a lot of you guys have classic cabs and I was just wondering if anyone else is interested in giving this idea legs.  That's why I am floating it out there to see if there is interest.

The four I have done already are probably mostly correct, but I did have to guess on some things because the shots that are available on the web are front angle shots and very few are direct side on.  Also there is a lack of measurements available.  The Pac-Man Galaga cab is a conversion of a plan I found on a website, not sure which one, and should be correct.

I would like to see some sit down cockpits and am in the process of making plans of the Star Wars cockpit that I own.  Also would like to see some of the more rare cabs like Discs of Tron and proto cabs.

Any response would be appreciated.

Sorry I don't have any measurements to contribute but I would like to offer words of encouragement.  Looks like a cool project and will aggregate information that will be useful.  Best of luck.

I applaud your efforts and wish you well.

have you seen this (as a possible starting point?)

looks like a slightly jaded version of what you are trying to do...

Yes actually the lack of 'arcade dimensions' on arcadedimensions.com is one of the reasons I began trying to put this stuff together.  I hope that anybody who has access to classic cabs will pitch in with info.

I am even considering attending some auctions with digital camera and tape measure in hand.
If I come home with a cab or two I can blame auction fever :o
Hopefully Mrs. Po will understand.

I am interested in any cabs that I can get.  I would like as close to strait on side shots as you can get.  Also measurements of the cab such as top to bottom, side to side at all changes in shape etc...

Here is an example I found on the net.

Okay i can get those for you no prob--How about CAD format--would that be okay?

And for those persons wondering why anyone would mame a berzerk cab,  it was already "maimed" before I "mamed" it(not that I have to justify myself).  I was just implying that the cabinet dimensions are intact and I know it was a berzerk originally before it was converted to some other god knows what game.

That would be cool.  I still have not figured out how I am going to make all this stuff available when I'm done.  I am no web guru :-\

Where do things stand on this one?  Do you need web space?  I will make it available here if you do.  Please let me know :)

Where can I find the dimensions of that far right cab?  Thanks!

That would be a Gauntlet wouldn't it. It's sad I even have a guess!  ;)

Anyone with Defender plans? I'm dying to build a replica of that.
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

I would be VERY ineterested in that tempest cab ;D !!

Not sure if this will help, but I do have some info on Tempest:

Cabaret:
Height: 60.00"
Width: 20.44"
Depth: 30.75"

Cocktail:
Height: 27.00"
Width: 28.25"
Depth: 33.50"

Upright:
Height: 69.00"
Width: 25.25"
Depth: 32.00"

I'll see that else I can find, and post it here.

Great big gobs of greasy grimey gopher guts.

There's a definite lack of Asteroids in those plans.  :)
