Rainbow LED Circuit v.2.0
« on: April 29, 2006, 04:55:42 pm »
Here are a few pics of a new RGB LED board I built.  It is still a work in progress and the pics don't do it justice.
This latest version can drive multiple RGB LED's (as much as your power supply can handle).  There are now 3 dual digit colored coded LED displays that show the color.  The board can produce over 200,000 colors (64^3).  There are 2 modes.  Mode 1 allows you to specify a color using the 3 potentiometers.  Mode 2 fades through the different colors and the potentiometers controls the speed.  I'm still waiting for the color matching knobs and the mode toggle switch to arrive.

Nice work! How much did it cost you to put together??

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

There are about $20 worth of parts, but most of them I had laying around.  Here is a parts list:

Wow! that's not bad at all!! Is there any chance that you'll be selling circuit boards for this??  I'd be interested in a bare board or even a complete kit.

I've been very busy at work.  Also, I am still not completely done with the code.  An RGB LED does not fade at a linear rate.  Therefore, I'm still fine tuning the math to better model the curves.  When it is finalized, I will post all the plans and code on my site so you can build it yourself.  If there was enough demand for the circuit boards, I'd consider sending a batch out for manufacturing but the cost to have the 3x4.5" double-side boards manufactured would be on the expensive side.
