Sterring wheel not working on a Mamewah/mame/cabinet
« on: May 03, 2006, 02:43:11 pm »
Hello guys

It seems i cannot make work my old Thrustmaster t2 Sterring wheel with my mame cabinet  I am using mamewah, & dos mame i think

The thrustmaster connects to the Game port + i have calibrated it fine.

I am using an x arcade aswell but it connects via ps2 so it doesn't really have to interfer with anything....

In mamewah theres a place with Mouse 0 , joy 0  ( I set them to 1 all of them for the heck of it because it was (0 = off  1 = On)
doesn't work either

I go in the game Press Tab = try to configure it Hit any key on the sterring doesn't move....

how can i fix this?

thanks!!!!

Does your MAME cabinet have windows installed?

If the joystick is digital, I'm not sure Dos can recognize it via the Gameport.  I remember back in the day when digital joysticks first came out, there were a lot of problems trying to get them to work with DOS games.

Probably your best bet would be to upgrade to windows for the OS and windows mame.

I'm not sure if any steering wheel will work in DOS Mame unless it's a mouse hack.

ArcadeEd, the T2 wheel is so old apparently was designed for dos (link 1 and link 2), so all is needed are the right drivers and tell dmame what type of driver you have.

And hayabusa_fmw, are you sure you are using dos mame ('dmame.exe' since before 0.53), not windows commandline mame, aka official mame, aka mame, aka "mame.exe"?  I haven't used dmame for a long time, so hopefully someone else can help.  If you have mame.exe and it's not 4 years old, it is not dos mame and more people know how to help you.

I am using The mame Binary + mamewah.....

I really don't know what you mean

I think i have official mame
http://www.mame.net/downmain.html
I got it from there back then.

I got the THRUSTMASTER FORMULA T2
not the one with the blue pannel

I am using Windows XP + theres an incorporated driver T/2  With adapter so i Choosed it + it works i calibrated it

but it's not working in mame when i hit TAB in game to change the steering atributes

like I press the gas pedal doesn't change....
doesn't see it seems like.

As you got MAME from mame.net I assume you are using Windows Commandline MAME (not Dos MAME).

Setting 'joystick 1' in your \mame\mame.ini is the easiest way.  Alternatively you could use the _device settings...

I put Joystick 1   (on/off)    = 1 on   0 = off

(in Mamewah , CTRL) default.ini

(i dont have a mame/mame.ini  remember im using the binary )

still doesn't work....

I don't get it.

What MinWAH is trying to say to you is that you SHOULD have a mame.ini file within youre MAME directory, NOT the ini file from within MameWAH. If there isn't a MAME.INI then use RUN from the start button and enter the program as being CMD & then press OK.
You are at a command prompt. Now say you have MAME on E drive in a directory called MAME, you would need to type the following where <Enter> is the enter key

E: <Enter>
cd MAME <Enter>
mame -cc <Enter>
exit <Enter>

(Just replace the E: with the drive your MAME directory is on etc.)

You can then use explorer to go to the MAME folder & enit the MAME.INI file that has been created. Within here you need to set Joy = 1.

Then you should be able to configure the game from the TAB screen & should recognise the buttons & steering wheel / pedals.
