Perfect 360 Installation Question
« on: March 01, 2003, 02:58:52 pm »
I have, what appears to be, a strange situation...I have installed my Perfect 360s, and they work well in all directions, however, when in the neutral position and not in use, they are very wiggly and loose.  Not sitting firm in the neutral position.

Both joysticks are this way so I am inclined to think they may have been installed incorrectly and not a flaw in the sticks.

Any assistance here would be great.  I have the Happs sticks and can easily get replacements if that's the answer.

Thanks
Chuck

I have since, figured out what the issue is (I think)...Here is a copy and paste from the email I sent to Happ Technical Support:

"I am having issues with the two Perfect 360s I purchased last week.  They are now installed as they need to be, but the issue may be an incorrect part with the stick.  In the past, I have constucted several cabinets and controls with Ultimate joysticks, Competition joysticks, and Super joysticks

I have had my P360's for about a month and a half now.  I have no problem with any sort of play in the neuteral position.  In fact, they're quite stiff--even more so before they were broken in.   Could it be a defect..

I hope it is a defect and not a design change.  Only thing that has me concerned is the same clearance is in the sleeve of both bases.

Well, it turns out that I was the problem.  I was not pushing on the stick hard enough to get the groove where the E-ring goes to clear the bottom of the sleeve in the base.

I have since reinstalled the sticks and everything works fine.  Thanks to all who provided assistance.

Very nice sticks.

Hiya phantompower,

What are they like with fighting games?  Do you have any probs pulling off the special moves in SFII, KoF etc, or is it easy to find the diagonals?

Thanks  :)

I've found the Perfect 360s to match their name.  In 4-way mode they never hit the diagonals and in 8-way mode all the input directions seem to be perfectly spaced.  The diagonals are easy to hit, but not over-sensitive as I've found my Supers to be while in 8-way mode.

See the images below:

Excellent use of the imagery to explain.

Overall, to echo the images, I have had much success finding each of the directions without issue.

I know its not a lot of information, but I hope it helps a little.

Hey that's great, you guys.  Just what I wanted to know.  Guess what joysticks I'll be buying when I build my CP  :D

If you're going to buy them ever buy them right now.  They're $25 until the end of this month at Happ (nearly half off per stick).  Do you want to spend $50 for a pair of them or $90?

Supers are also on sale for 8 bucks a pop.  Those are a real nice alternative for those like me who can't afford to spend even $25 on a joystick.  The best part is that despite the 8-way design, it has a round feel to it, no corner notches.
