LCD topgun driver problem :(

I got 2 topgun's in today but have been very unsuccessful installing any drivers for them.  I want to use Smog's but at the end of the installation of the driver it says it failed.  I'm on XP SP2.  I had wingun's driver on here previously just to mess around with before I got my guns in.  I unistalled it from "Remove Programs."  Any help would be sweet.

Welcome to the club of those of us that have had issues of all shapes and sizes
getting these guns up and running.
The list is long but distinguished...

I'm going on a month of working at it off and on and it's still not up and running correctly.


Now for your question,
Not sure what wingun does if anything in the registry but you may want to make sure all that is cleaned out.

Doesn't XP have a feature where sometimes it does a restore of drivers you are attempting to uninstall, just make sure that when you uninstalled Wingun, that it is fact really gone. Uninstall, do a reboot then check to make sure everything is gone. I've had issues with stuff that I thought was uninstalled not actually getting uninstalled.

I assume you are attempting to install Smogs latest driver suite

The first time I installed under XP I got the B.S.O.D.
I ran the installer again and everything worked fine.

Some good info.

Also if you do finally get the driver installed and then you launch the ctrl panel and press the A button on your
gun and the CTRL panel crashes, do a search for wheel.gif and copy it into your system32 folder.
SMOG says it's a known issue.

Hopefully, if these basic things don't work,
SMOG or some of the other helpful lightgun folks can add some more useful info for you.

Thanks for replying and I wear a size L.  Can you elaborate on how to be sure you have uninstalled a driver.  I am trying to install  "GunCon2PC driver suite version 0.9b5 (Pre release)(latest beta - Supports LCD guns)".  I have both of those sites in my favorites.  I have read most of the 40 page LCD Topgun thread too lol but everyone seems to be getting the driver installed THEN having problems.  I can't even get it installed lol.
