A few questions before i start my project
« on: April 17, 2006, 06:46:23 am »
Shall be starting work on my 4 player cab in the next few days, and am trying to decided on what joysticks to use. My old cab was fitted with 2 x T-sticks from Ultimarc, which i really liked, as you can switch them from 4 - 8 ways with ease. Now im in 2 minds weather to use these type of sticks again, or maybe go for the Happ 49 way sticks for player 1 & 2( as combined with Powermame, these can be changed to 2, 4 , 8 ways depending on what the game originally used), and Happ Rotary joysticks for players 3 & 4. (for game as
Ikari Warriors)

Im just concerned  about a couple of things by going down this route. The T-stick were dead easy to connect to my PC via a I-PAC form ultimarc, how do i connect these 49 way and rotary sticks to work with my PC, are they as easy? How these joysticks shall look on my Control Panel, as the handles are slightly different, can the handles be changed so they all look the same, as i wanted each player to have different colour sticks and button, Red for P1, Blue P2, Green P3, and Yellow for P4, will this be possible.

Is there any other things i should be concerned with, that i havent covered??

You are right.  Both the 49-way and the rotary sticks require their own type of interface.  RandyT makes a GPWIZ 49, which is a USB interface for the 49-way sticks.  And I forget offhand what type of interface you need for the rotary.

It will be harder to setup (plus more expensive) than standard 8 way sticks and Ipac4, but thats a decission you'll have to make.  (We have no problem spending YOUR money for you, lol)

So, how do the 49-ways feel when using them for standard 8 way games?
