Slikstick, Ms Pac-Man 4-w and Super Joystick
« on: April 16, 2006, 05:27:30 am »
Well, i made an impulse buy the other day and picked up 2 slikstick stainless steel joysticks for my competition joysticks in addition, I bought a stainless steel and super joystick with the intention of using them exclusevly for 4 way games.  Apparently, after a little further review, this things aren't so hot for 4 way PLUS oscar controls and their restriction plates are gone.  Everyone says that the replacement joystick for the MS Pac-Man/Galaga game is a fantastic 4 way.  My question is, will the slikstick balltop shaft I bought for the super joystick fit in the replacement joystick?  I can't seem to find exact dimensions on the slikstick or super joystick shaft but I know that the replacement joystick has .394" according to the happscontrols website.  Thanks!

Nate

  • Why build 1 when you can build 2 at twice the cost

I also had a ms. packman but did not light the height of the stick.  I also purchased from slickstik the lighted ball top.  I was able to replace the ms. packman stick with the stick from the ball top without any difficulty.  I do find that the feel of the stick is not excellent but way better the the lighted ball top in 4 way mode.

I also swapped the bottom of the joy sticks so the slickstick wiring would not dislodge. No problems, the screws line up perfectly.

Best advise, give it a try, if you don't like it, just change it back. Took me about 15 minutes to change it.

I appreciate your response but I'm just a little confused by your answer.  Is the diameter of the shaft in the Ms. PacMan / Galaga Stick and the the diameter of the Happs Super stick the same?

yes. you can interchange the shafts of those two joysticks.

although i think the slikstik shafts and knobs are gorgeous, i prefer the shortest possible throw for 4-way games. for details about the best 4-way solutions (IMHO), follow the web link in my signature and scroll down to the "Components" section.

if i were starting from scratch, i'd use the betson space invaders stick for wood panels and the stock ms pac / galaga reunion stick for metal panels.
