OK... with the help of this site, I've suddenly stopped building my 1st desktop CP to start building an entire cabinet. Who would have guessed? For many reasons, I just wasn't happy with the desktop thing. Anyway, I'm refurbishing an old 'Bad Dudes' cabinet.
I've have a contact that will build custom metal swappable panels for the cabinet to spec in an auto body shop. This is a favour and a one-time deal so planning is super-important. I'm looking for some advice on the various configurations that I should plan for. Basically, I want to build 3 or 4 panels that will cover as many games as possible. I pretty much like all games and go through phases so I want to keep my options open. This is what I've come up with so far:
Panel 1 - 2 player panel with 2 4-way/8-way ultimarc sticks (j-sticks) & seven buttons per player.
Panel 2 - Trackball & dedicated 4-way pac-man style leaf switch joystick. **How many buttons would you guys recommend for this panel? Is two or three per device ok?
Panel 3 - Dedicated TRON panel with original stick and spinner.
I was thinking about getting a 4th panel cut for 4 joysticks (2 per player). I'm not really sure how many games use 2 sticks per player so I'm not certain how much use it would get and/or if additional buttons would be required for this configuration. Maybe someone would be kind enough to enlighten me?
Any suggestions, comments or ideas based on your experience would be very welcome. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
