Wiring pelican real arcade joystick
« on: April 13, 2006, 04:04:17 am »
I hacked a pelican real arcade universal joystick to work in mame with an Xbox usb adaptor.
I replaced all the microswitches and buttons and wired them in exactly how pelican had them.  All of the buttons work fine except for the start and back button.  Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Have the same problem with 2 of my 4 that I am selling, don't know what is wrong, but also one of my buttons from 5-8 is 10 somehow also, but I haven't found a solution, I tried the XBCD xbox controller driver, but couldn't get that to work.  There are two different pelcan controllers, one a bit smaller with no back compartment, and one a bit larger with a back compartment, the 2 smaller ones with no back compartment gave me this trouble, where as the two larger ones with back compartments worked fine, I am going with a 4 player control panel, selling the cases from them, and using an IPac4 for my mame machine, sry I wish I could help, I have posted about this before and never solved the problem.  Good luck though.

have you tried http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html#troubleshooting to get it working with XBCD? I had to add my Wireless Arcade Stick to the driver to get it recognized. But now it works fine.

OK
I have the larger one with the compartment in the back.  I've tried installing the XBCD driver and it did but nothing shows up in it.  It recognizes it in windows as a 4 in 1 wheel and when I click on properties it shows all the buttons work except for buttons 5, 9, 11, and 12.  Maybe it is the xbcd driver but I figured if it worked plug and play with windows I didn't need it.  I just tried changing the xbcd.inf file but that didn't change anything either.
Did I do this correctly?
%XBCD.DeviceDesc%   =Install, USB\VID_13AA&PID_0107      ; Pelican Real Arcade

I don't know I'm really confused here, is there anyone who knows how to make XBCD work?

try uninstalling the driver windows is using now and then manually choosing the Xbox Driver when you re-install it, or I think you could 'update driver' and do it manually that way, I'm not at my mame machine so I can't really helo much more than that for now. If it's using the xbox driver it should show up in the XBCD Setup Utility | Start ) Program ) XBCD ) Setup Utility

Could anybody show me step by step how to do that.  Everytime I go into the device manager and uninstall the HID compliant game controller and the USB interface device it works however when I reinstall XBCD I have to unplug and replug the control in.  When I do that windows automatically plug and plays and then reinstalls the windows drivers instead.  I know I am getting close with this any help would be much appreciated.

All of this sounds just like what happened to me, except with the smaller kind with no compartment, 2 of them.
