...I don't think so (but I could be wrong); as I don't think advance mame uses video like this guy's does....

Also the switch between each game demo was instantenous...I love that!.....

Whoa, that is cool! Im looking forward to finding out what FE this is.

Im guessing that the FE must buffer the upcoming demo videos so that they play as soon as you scroll to the next game seeing as there is no lag at all.

From his site he says
La parte software: ho preferito usare  ADVMAME 1.0.4  tutto sotto DOS specifico per i cabinati, il menu dei giochi ADVMENU

in circa 10 secondi viene caricato tutto il sistema pronto all'uso,

Which babelfish translates to
The part software: I have preferred to use ADVMAME 1.0.4 all under specific DOS for the cabin cruisers, the menu of games ADVMENU in approximately 10 second ones it comes loaded all the ready system to the use,

btw, you don't know when they hit down.  seemed REALLY slow to me.

don't get me wrong.  I thought it was VERY cool!... but it might get old old after a bit if your trying to get to the game 10 down...  My frontend pulls changes the menu, then updates screen shot, then updates the videos.  So you can run past some games before even loading the image.  Very nice for going where you want.  But now, after seeing this, I'm wondering if I can automatically grab the first image from a movie, and save that as an image.  So it would look like its starting the video a second before.

I LOVE how the screen changes based on 3/4 and 4/3 aspect ratio.  VERY nice!

I was looking for a FE with a similar option, not long ago, and I was told that MAMEWah can do this.
Does anyone know if that's right??

I like it, hope we can find out what it is and that it actually works as good as the video shows  :applaud:

Yes. The theme I use plays videos of each game. My theme isn't set up to play videos NEARLY that large though - but MAMEWAH certainly can be setup that way. I also, personally, use a delay - showing a screenshot first then loading the video after a couple of seconds. This allows me to scroll faster without loading all the video files of games while scrolling through.

The setting is actually in mamewah.ini not in the theme's .lay file.

Look for these in mamewah.ini:
movie_preview_path                                    (movie preview folder, eg c:\mame\previews)
movie_artwork_no                          1            (1-10 which artwork # will the movie overwrite when loaded?)
...
delay_before_movie_preview  2         (seconds - I suppose if you set this to 0 they'll load as quick as that google video)

Joseph Elwell.

I think it's awesome that babelfish translated cabinati into cabin cruiser(??), so that's what I'm calling myself from now on.

It IS Advmenu.  I use it for my front end and it rocks.  The setup shown is using crashtests videos as previews.  You can use the videos or not.  It is incredibly configurable and is specifically designed to not need a keyboard or mouse at all (very cabinet friendly).

BTW, you don't need to use advmame to get all the great benefits of advmenu.  They do not require each other.

I'll try to post some screen shots of my advmenu setup and my config file later.

Very true, I use it w/ plain MAME, it's *very* flexible.  It can even control the parallel port if you wanted to.  I hope to use that feature to trigger a relay to rotate my monitor.  Someday in my copious amounts of free time.    :)   I also like how I can set it to auto rotate the emulator based on the orientation of the frontend itself.  Very nice.

AdvanceMAME is quite good too although it didn't work well for me in Windows w/ the new computer I got for the cab.  I may have to go back to it when I get a 19" multisync monitor replacing my PC monitor.
