Installing an Imperial trackball
« on: February 27, 2003, 10:18:27 am »
I'm about to router the spot for my Betson/Imperial trackball and I'm not sure which way to position it.  There are four different options which translate into two possible router templates.  Any idea which way the control cable should be pointing for the correct positon?

Also, does this trackball connect to the Opti-PAC the same way as the Happs trackball?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Looking down at the ball of the trackball the cable should come out of the bottom right corner.

Mine is a PS2 model so I can't answer the optipac question sorry.

Mine is also the PS/2 version and the cables comes out closer to you on the right but you might want to hook it up and double check before routing the panel. It should connect similar to the Happs ball but you could ask Andy over at Ultimarc to be sure. I thought he even had a write up on his site on how to do it.

Here's a thread that discusses trackball orientation (scroll down towards the end)... worst case scenario if you mounted "wrong"/"backwards"/"sideways" you could electrically manipulate your X/y axises fairly easily. (although your roll action may be improved by mounting it correctly)

good luck!
