Happ Supers as a 4-way joy
« on: April 12, 2006, 12:10:05 am »
I own 2 ultimate joys from happ.  After playing with them for a few months I'm really starting to dislike them.  I'm looking to get some supers.  Research that I've done here says they are really good for fighting games.  Anyway, does flipping that actuator on them to switch them to 4-ways actually work any good?  Can it be done without tools?

No, they aren't good 4ways. (IMO)

Yes, you can do it without tools, although the E-clip can be a nuisance, and is EASIER to get off with pliers or similar.
first off your and idiot

Maybe consider some Ultimarc MagStick Plus.

They are shaped like a super, but you switch between 4 and 8 way from the top.  Though they have a lot less play in the joystick movement than happ joysticks.  That can be a good or bad thing.  I think it's just a matter of getting used to it.

The Happ Ms. Pac / Galaga Reunion sticks are a true 4-way Super.  Not just a different actuator, they've got a proper diamond shaped restrictor hole in the base of the stick, instead of the round hole on a Super.  Otherwise, it's the same stick.  Well, the same base- the handle's obviously different.  You can swap in a Super handle if you prefer that style, though.
