Has anybody tried this before?
« on: April 10, 2006, 12:34:19 am »
I'm not sure if I want to attempt this or not, but has anybody wired their button LEDs so that they're only on when the button is pressed? I think it could make for a fairly neat looking final product, even if it might be a bit distracting.

If anybody has done this, are there some pics or video of it in action?

I think cholin had this (or a similar) idea a while back.   Try a search for led posts under his name and see what you can find.

Not to be negative, I think I said this before when it was discussed, but what's the point of this if your fingers/hands are going to be blocking out most of the view of the buttons when they're being pushed?

Just something to consider.

Yep, that would be me.

My idea was with joysticks though, so when you pressed them upwards, a translucent piece of your panel would light, forming an UP arrow.

The button idea would be cool too, but I didnt feel like doing that because of the finger thing... I actually considerred just lighting them all.  And even though fingers would block them, you would still definately notice the effect, so its not a waste of time.
