Attention Canadian GameRoom Subscribers!
« on: April 09, 2006, 11:01:25 pm »
It has become more and more apparent over the last month that something really, really bad happened to the February mailings of GameRoom headed for Canada.

Were they apprehended by an arcade-loving Mountie? I don't know, but what I do know is that I'm rapidly approaching a "missing issue" rate of 100% for Canadian subscribers, at least for the February issue (and quite possibly for the March issue, but it could just be late...)

Anyway, there are two bits of good news here: first, starting with the April issue the magazine was shipped in "polybags", which means that it's a lot easier for machines to sort (and harder for mail carriers to read ;) )

Second, I've made arrangements with my printer to have the Canadian subs mailed directly from Toronto, where the magazine is printed. This means that Canadian subscribers should actually see their monthly issue before I even do!

We're still working out the Canadian postage issues, but I hope to keep the rates unchanged or at worst a few dollars more a year. This will mean that the "Canadian Air Mail" rate will go away, as most likely all Canadian subs will be treated the same.

I do want to apologize for all the BYOAC subscribers who have yet to even get their first issue. Trust me, this wasn't the plan, but I hope that I've finally managed to iron out all the production kinks (which were probably inevitable, considering the magazine has a new owner, new printer, and new mailing center!)

Just wanted to shout out a thanks to Kevin for his efforts here -- it is now conceivable that I will be the first person on the planet to receive my monthly GameRoom fix

Cheers.

As a followup to this, I received the replacement issues that Kevin mailed me last week and received the latest issue today after it was mailed on Thursday (now that is fast service). I have really enjoyed all three issues, particularly Dick Donlan's Welcome To The Machine (tech column on vids), product reviews (saint's book was reviewed in the April issue), MultiGame article (BYOACer DreamArcades is featured) and BYOAC'er RetroJames' GameRoom News.

So, again, thanks to Kevin for his efforts to overcome the difficulties provided by both the US and Canadian postal services.

Cheers.

Hurrah!

The new mailing system works. I got my May issue yesterday, so I somehow managed to still beat you by 1 day. My goal from the start has been to get the issue into everyone's hands by the 1st of the month, and this may be the first time I've succeeded.

Be sure and tell your fellow Canadian GameRoom fans that I think we're finally back on track!

Thanks, Cheffo!

And yeah, I agree - color (or is that colour  ;)) takes things to a whole new level.
