Operation Wolf Cabinet Gun not working
« on: April 06, 2006, 05:54:29 am »
HI Guys

From australia and recently got an operation Wolf cabinet wishing to bring back to life. Everything works except the gun, it fires but doesn't register on the screen. Apparently form some reports there is a known problem with the sensor board? Just wondering if anyone knows about this cab and any ways of fixing or finding out why the gun doesn't work...

I'm new to all this so wishing to get to know things and the cab up and running. Usually done some mame stuff but now wanna ghet this up and running. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Crank up the brightness.

That fixed one that I was working on.

(And yes before this thread gets going again, Op wolf DOES use a optical gun)

Later,

Brightness fixed mine, as well.  While you're in there, clean off the monitor and the mirror, too.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I've cleaned it a fair bit but still doesn't wanna work with gaining a response from the gun.

I pulled apart the gun with the help of my bro in law and looks like the SP3ML photodiode has degraded? When we apply light from a torch directly to it and then pull the trigger we get some repsonse with firing on the screen and shooting people. So we're thinking that maybe this part has degraded and needs replacing??? Any idea's if this might be the case or where we can get a replacement?

Without shining the torch directly on the SP3ML photodiode we couldn't get any reponses. The screen has some scratches on it but I doubt that would be enough to stop the repsonse form the screen to the gun?

Any other suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Mal

New Reason why gun not working

Found out missing the barrel Assy that sits at the very front of the gun and therefore it has a lens apparently that sits inside this and wont work without it. So isn't going to be the diode on the small PCB in the gun as I first thought.

Don't suppose anyone has an Operation wolf gun with that part they wanna get rid of???? Or a cabinet that doesn't work with the operation wolf gun.... Only need that section and then mine is all good to go.
