hmmm.. degaussing are we??

I dont wanna be a punk but I did this a while back using a coil outta a 25" monitor turning the coil over the same way you had but mine doesnt have a light on it and I used a larger momentary pushbutton rated for a higher voltage.. since i was dealing with AC...
A trick that I learned from the TV repair shop is that once you get a bit away from the monitor turn the coil sideways(perpendicular) to the screen.
**do not touch the coil to the screen**
** do not run the coil for to long or it will burn up **
just adding my 2 cents

speaking about monitors.. If anyone gets a chance to see or go to any of Andy Fromms arcade repair classes.. do it..
I recently bummed a few tapes from a friend on monitor repair and dang what a pro.. and I actually was able to repair 2 of my monitors.. one had a chunk shorting out a gun in the tube neck and the other needed a transistor replaced on the neck board..
