Want to make my own 1-button Shazaam combo adapter
« on: March 30, 2006, 11:05:23 am »
Randy, or anyone else that knows: what is the recommended value of the diode I should be using to make my own 1 button Shazaam combo adapter? I don't see it in the documentation or FAQ's...

Also - when this button is used, does it switch the default codeset to the alternate? That is something I don't want. I would like to have this operate normally, and only that one button be the Alternate codeset.

One more thing, to further complicate things: I need this button to be the Backspace key. Is that possible, while leaving the other inputs standard?

Any small signal switching diode will do.  These diodes at Radio Shack will do the trick.

No.  But it still may not do what you want it to.  Pressing that button will put the KeyWiz into it's "shifted" mode for as long as the button is depressed.  Think of it as a "Shazaaam! " button that also has a function.

The backspace key is not part of the default ROM codeset, so you would need to upload your own to it.  You can automate this at start up with the "Virtual EEPROM" feature of the software.
