Superauctions -- St. Louis
« on: March 29, 2006, 05:14:48 pm »
Somewhat OT, but I figure you folks would know better than anyone else:

I've got a Klax conversion that I need to unload to make room for my MAME cab.  Superauctions will be in town on Saturday, and I had considered taking it by there, since I'd have the attention of most everyone in the area (St. Louis) that might actually want the thing.  On the other hand, I've seen some of the less popular games go really, really cheap there, and I'd like to at least get something for it.

Game is in decent shape, BTW.  Some burn in on the monitor, and a bit of discoloration on the side of the monitor that is outside of the gameplay area.  A new monitor would do it nicely, but doesn't need one.

My number 1 concern is that I'll take it over there and leave with like $25 or something, which isn't really even worth my drive.

Any thoughts?

I'd say Craigslist. See what you get. I'm in St. Louis, and I have a friend who loves Klax. But even he said he'd only give $50 for one.

What are you thinking is a fair price for it? I'll run it past him.

Are we talking about the Auction in Belleville? I plan on attending... "to look"

Yep, the same one.  I went to one there about a year or so ago to look for a Megatouch -- which ended up being like the very last things they auctioned -- so I got to see the whole process.  There weren't very many of those, though, and the prices were accordingly obnoxious, so I took a pass and bought one on eBay for half the cost when I got home.  They had some good deals on vids and pins, though.

I'm mostly looking to see if they have any empty cabs in good shape that I could use to kickstart my MAME project.  Ultimately, I'd like to build my own, but in the short term, it would help to have a skeleton I can just add a custom CP to.  Besides, empty cabs were going really, really cheap there -- towards the end of the day, some were literally being given away.

If you go, bring a truck -- you're guaranteed to find something tempting there...

I'll pm you re the Klax machine.
