  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
BYO Serial & PS2 cables
« on: March 28, 2006, 05:20:50 pm »
Hi all, I am in the process of building a console/arcade box which will house my pc, power supply and also my i-pac and opti-pac.  This means that I will connect the box to the TV and then plug in my arcade controllers so I can play with them on my lap, (also its a good idea for a module control panels).

Anyway to keep the main arcade box small, I was thinking of cutting down my leads which connect to the I-Pac and Opti-Pac, and was wondering if anyone here knows the pin connections.

I have already made a S-Video cable and that works fine, and by looking at some PS2 port pinouts that seems easy to make, its the serial one I am not to sure.

I was thinking of hacking a ready made cable and was wondering are the colours the same on all cables and if so are there any sites which lets me know which pins to connect the wires too.

Just wondering is the serial lead from the PC to Opti-Pac just a entension cable if so than that means I should be able to do it fine.  Anyone have any sites which show you the pin layout of the 9 pin serial port.

If its too difficult than I most probably will have to try to cram all the cables in the box.

Thanks for any help in advance.
