29" Ex-Impress Monitor (USA / PHX / AZ)
« on: March 26, 2006, 01:37:51 am »
Update - Sold the 29" Neo Monitor, only the Impress monitor remaining.

29" monitor from a Capcom Impress cab - 15/24KHz Switchable if I recall.  Probably needs a cap kit as it was oversaturated with blue after a few years in a garage w/o adjustments or use.  My old cab had scan converters connecting to the monitors but I switched things up and got a Betson to replace instead of fixing and upgrading video cards to AVGA and such.  No noticable burn in.

Video is already hacked to db15/vga plug btw.

Local purchases preferred though they are boxed up & ready to go.

PM if interested.

any chance you would sell the chassis from the Capcom Impress ?
I dont need the tube, and also I am in the UK so shipping a full monitor would be too expensive.

It wasn't something I thought about since I'll still need to get rid of the tube.  If there's not a lot of interest we'll work something out.  Of the 2 monitors, the Impress's monitor is the one that is saturated with blue (other colors are present but very much washed out by the blue).  Does that sound like the monitor / chassis would need a cap kit?

Also, I swapped the frame on the Impress with Betson monitor to fit the replacement in the cabinet.

The Neo monitor (Hitachi if I remember) is in the original frame, and colors are fine.

yea sounds like it needs a capkit, still even so, i'd be willing to pay a decent price for the chassis, I accidentally killed mine, and due to no documentation its making a repair a bit tricky. My alternative is to find a replacement working chassis or buy anothr Tri Res monitor - i'd like to keep the Imp as original as possible tho as it would be used purely for 15k low res 2d fighting games.

have a think about it either way and if you get no bites, let me know

my monitor has now been fixXxed  :)

I was thinking $150 for the Neo monitor and $100 for the Impress monitor (the difference should be able to get a few caps & cover some time, no?) if sold seperately.  I can go lower if you pick both up the same day.

Also - if you've got a spare spinner / trackball, let me know.

Not bad prices. Luckily for Mr. Megalo, I just blew my game cash on a Marvel vs Capcom 2 and new control panel so I don't have the cash at the moment. Although I'd probably just sell the impress chassis to him anyways. Maybe he could get me a replacement control panel for my Cyberlead if I did :)

I do have an Arkanoid spinner and a new betson 2.5" trackball around here somewhere though if you want either or both.

How does the Betson monitor fit in those cabs? I have a Cyberlead with a really nice Nano monitor but if I ever had to replace it I was thinking of a newer Betson or WG D9200 but I wasn't sure if they'd fit. I had a heck of a time trying to get a replacement monitor for a Japanese import Daytona USA a couple years ago. None of the US monitors would fit because of the larger 29" screen (and it had to be a curved screen at that).

Thanks,

If there's encoders on both, I'm pretty sure I'm interested...  if not, then maybe we still can work something out.

The replacement worked out differently on the Neo vs Impress cab - Both of them are still using their original bezel and the Betson must have a lighter curve across the tube since there's space from the monitor to bezel around the center of each.  Not visually noticable unless you're looking, but when your kid thinks dropping quarters down there is fun, it's annoying.

The Betson and Neo monitors were very close profile and I was able to just pull the old and drop in the new.  The bolts to secure the monitor don't line up perfectly (so it's not bolted in) and there's a little room to rock the monitor, but it won't fall out and screwing the bezel on secures it well enough.

On the Impress, I had to do a frame swap.  In fact, the frame doesn't go around the back of the monitor - the chassis screws into the cab itself.  The frame was required to mount the monitor in the cab though, no way I could skimp out like I did on the Neo.

Hey Tetsu,

Do you still have that SF3 insert? If you do, I'd be interested in it.

Both have encoders. The trackball is new and was something I bought for a Centipede project but ended up selling the cab. The arkanoid spinner was taken from a working game and the only thing missing was the bottom E ring which should be easy enough to get at pretty much any hardware store. I'll have to dig up the spinner. It's somewhere in the garage. The trackball is sitting on the shelf so I know exactly where that is.

I'll take a look for it but probably not.  I'll PM you if found though.

Good for you.  What was wrong with it - just the transistor needing replacing?
