Trackball Games and Controller Setup
« on: March 25, 2006, 08:55:36 pm »
I'm putting together a bartop for trackball only games and I need some help with the games list and the controller setup.

First the controller setup; I'm thinking trackball in the center with buttons on each side. How many buttons? Are there any trackball games that use more than three buttons? Should I put three buttons on either side to accomodate both left and right handedness?

Secondly, I need help with a list of all the good classic trackball games. Here's what I have so far:

* Marble Madness
* Atari Football
* Centipede
* Crystal Castles
* Millipede
* Mini Golf
* Rampart
* Golden Tee (not exactly classic, but every trackball setup seems to require this)

omg, how could you leave out Missle Command....thats just sad.  You also might want to check out Shuuz and some of the bowling games.

I would definately put 3 on each side if room allows...the lefties will appreciate it.

Cabal is another great track game as well as the aforementioned Shuuz. I know horse shoes sounds boring...but it is great fun with your friends. And yes...a bowling game is obligatory with a trackball  :applaud:

Sounds like a pretty cool setup...let us know how it turns out.

Ha, I didn't forget about Missile Command, just forgot to actually type it!  :) That's why I was including 3 buttons.

Yes, it would seem I should include a bowling game as well. Any recommendations? I don't remember any by name.

World Class (or Championship) Bowling is my favorite in MAME.  Requires a computer with some horsepower.

Shuffleshot (also not a classic) is one of the most entertaining trackball games IMO.

Atari Football requires 2 players, so it would be difficult to do on a bartop.

Coors Light/Capcom Bowling is semi-classic, and pretty fun.

If you're going to have buttons on both sides, you might as well put pinball games on there too :)
