Is my Tornado Spinner missing a screw?
« on: March 22, 2006, 03:17:02 pm »
I got mine today and it works perfectly, however I was wondering... Is it supposed to include a screw to fasten the knob tightly to the shaft? Because mine only came with the four wood screws for moutning. Does anyone know size screw the knob takes?

There should be two hex set screws (grub screws) in the knob already.  If they aren't there, I will figure out what thread they are so you can pick some up ( or have whoever sold it to you send them)

there should be a set screw (little tiny) that attaches the knob to the shaft

it should be on the knob itself

There were no scews included with the knob (which came wrapped seperately from the spinner). I bought it from SlikStik's website.

Sure?  There should be a very small black screw IN the knob.  Look on the side, around the circumference of it.  (I think there's only one, isn't there?)  It might be inset already, so you may not see it?

edit:  I know it may sound like I'm being condescending, but I'm honestly not! :D

Wow, you're right! The screws are in there, I just didn't recognize them because they are tiny hex-screws. Thanks a lot, that relieves me of a lot of worry. ;D

So, when I mount my spinner to the controll panel, will I need a hex screwdriver to tighten the knob into place?

Yup.  There are two of them - one on each side.  Drill a 3/8" hole through your CP with a spade bit and you are all set.

If you don't have an allen wrench for that, just go to your hardware store or whatever.  They sell those things in multiple sizes on one handy little gadget.  Pretty much like a swiss army knife.
