I'm not sure you'll be able to sell them with the music installed. Good luck though.

I was wondering that too... It's like selling a mame cab with all the roms installed. Nice idea but it's not really going to happen.

I'd be curious to know what SK thinks about his free application being used for profit as well.

The music that is installed is there for demo purposes only.
must be deleted by new owner.

why would it matter that sk is free?
sk is nice, but it does not make the jukebox.
several hundred hours go into making one of these.
I don't think the software's price or lack of one is an issue.
I have also stated in previous threads, that if sk supported videos, i would gladly give my $40/copy to him.

I think you'll get in trouble if the music stays in the machine after it leaves your hands. You should delete the music before it is handed over to the new owner, so there is no way you can get in trouble. I'm not saying you will, but it's happening much more often these days.

I imagine he's going to take his chances.  It will never happen to me, right?

To be honest i would be totally pissed if it was my software being used on there when you are making a profit. Don't get me wrong i think you should make money off your cabs after all you have put the effort in. However think about this, for every hour you put into making thoose SK has probably put in ten fold on his software... Just becasue it doesn't support videos is no excuse for you not making a donation, if you don't like the software then don't put it on there.

As for your attitude towards MP3's, if it was a repuatble show they wouldn't even let you through the door with a juke to sell loaded full of mp3's. I suppose you can provide proof of ownership for these files when a nice man comes to check the legality of all out? If you are in the US which i asume you are then you are probably breaking a million and one laws as they are much more strict on digital jukes over there than here in the U.K. Still it's your nuts on the line dude.

Hahaha i only just realised the show has been and gone.... So did you sell them, did you get into any trouble?

Ok, sorry but here's my opinion of the above statement:

 :soapbox:
Without the software you have nothing but a pretty box with a PC and a bunch of mp3s...  the software is the heart of the whole thing.  To act like it deserves no consideration when it comes to resale is just wrong.  I realize you came to this conclusion naturally enough... the software was free, so what's the big deal?  The problem here is that SK was nice enough to spend his time developing an app and then passing it out for free to others interested in the hobby.  You seem to be assuming that he whipped it out in half an hour.  As a developer I can tell you this is not the case.  I am sure the time he spent writing code dwarfs the time you spent on the whole project.

There is an easy solution.  You should have asked SK if he had a problem with you selling the machine with his software installed.  At the very least, you should kick back a generous portion of the profit to the man that made it possible.

Ok...sorry.   Getting off my soapbox now...

Jukebox didn't sell, and have since, pulled sk from the hard drive.
want no bs with any one here.
just posted so others could see my jukes.
I have read postings here, where others were offered money to build for friends.
any one done this?
some people just can't build one on their own.
as far as the music library, almost every one I know is buying mp3's for their I-pods and they can install their own music.
I wasn't using sk because it was free, I used it because that particular jukebox only had room for one monitor. and since sk didn't play videos i chose it.
just because it didn't play videos, was not a factor in me not making a donation to sk.
was trying sk for the first time, and if i use it in the future, will gladly make a donation.
every one that looks at my jukebox, wants one, was just trying to fill a need.
sorry to piss you all off.

Let me write this so you understand.
If sk supported videos, I would stop using vmj and buy all my software from him.
