Whats the weakest computer that can run a jukebox succesfully

I suppose it really depends on what kind of programs your using.  It doesn't take a monster system to show album covers and play mp3s.  You might wanna be a little more specific and let us know what kind of computer you have and what kind of programs you wanna run.

I can run SK Jukebox full speed on a 333mhz, 128mb RAM.  It might depend on the video and sound cards as well.  Computers this slow are usually found at the landfill.  That's where I get mine.

I have SK Jukebox running on a P3-550 with Windows XP SP1 with 184MB ram and lowly 8MB on-board video.  It runs very, very well with screen changes being the only time it has any issues.  When you do an album page slide just as a song begins playing, the initial load of song data and the screen slide causes the sound to stutter a moment.  I am nearly 100% certain that a better video card in the same motherboard would solve this problem.  I just don't have a better one handy so I am willing to live with it the way it is for now.

Stuttered slightly at the start of songs with winamps visual effects on, played fine with them off.  No frontend was used though.  This was an old setup that is now an email/web surfing machine at the parents house.  I know I upgraded the memory and got rid of the stuttering, but I don't remember what I upgraded it to.  Maybe added a  128 stick?

Doscab is maybe that software, that use less system resource. It shoul even been run in about Pentuim 133mhz, or maybe lowere?

Hence this is why it dos based (but a windows version is exists)...

My own Arcade Music Box may run in about 2-300mhz, if 10FPS function is enabled (normally it run 30fps).

I've personally run DOSCab on a P120 laptop.  I've heard reports of it running on a P100.  There are some options in DOSCab that can be disabled to increase performance on slower machines.  Note that for a slower machine, the classic skins work best; I did get an occasional stutter when changing pages in album mode as it loaded the album art on the painfully slow laptop hard drive.

Ironically, DOSCab is easier to get running on older, slower machines because it's more likely to have a compatible sound card.  Most new machines with integrated sound don't have hardware-SoundBlaster-compatible chipsets and/or DOS drivers.

I believe a 90MHz computer is the least powerful PC that will play an MP3 adequately with Windows software (likely Win95 or 98).

I have an old 75MHz laptop that is unable to play an MP3 without skipping constantly.

I'm not sure about DOS software, but likely the requirements would be less strict with regards to processor power.

Also worth noting that encoding at a lower bit rate might be helpful.

DOSAmp will supposedly run on a 486, so it's theoretically possible that DOSCab could, too, especially if you were running at a low resolution, displays made small or disabled, font smoothing turned off, animation disabled, etc.  What would probably happen is it would play okay on one page but stutter when changing pages.  But my "official" minimum requirement for DOSCab is a P100.
