Mapping the Ipac and Jpac with 4 Player CP
« on: March 11, 2006, 11:54:02 pm »
ok i have tried for almost all day and i have given up....even looked on the forums and ultimarc and no luck or it may be something im not getting, but does anyone have easier instructions to setup a 4player CP with Jpac and ipac2?

i get them all working nicely grounded etc....but when i try mapping with winipac all i get is player one controls both player 1 and player 3 and player 2 controls both player 2 and 4. I tested it on simpsons and i can move homer with two controllers....anyone got suggestions how to split the keys for each player his own?

thanks.

You need to program each device separately, then hook them up together.

I would leave the J-PAC with the default setup MAME setup for players 1 and 2.

Hook the JPAC up to the video (so you can see what you're doing), but leave it disconnected from the PC keyboard port.  Hook up the IPAC2 directly to the PC, run winipac and program the IPAC2 for players 3 and 4, avoiding keys that are used by the default programming on the J-PAC.

The toughest part should really be figuring out what keys to use.

Hantarex Polo 15KHz
Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 2GB (GCN)
GroovyMAME 0.197.017h_d3d9ex
CRT Emudriver & CRT Tools 2.0 beta 13 (Crimson 16.2.1 for GCN cards)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.8GHz
ASUS Z87M-PLUS Motherboard

Hay thanks for this advice i actually got that around and this seems the best setup only one prob...now when i tap the buttons too much i get the stupid ctrl + Alt kicks me out of mame...i tried remapping the keys in MAME default and that made it worse....i guess i gotta go back to the regular setup any ideas how to keep the Ctrl and Alt buttons from going to main windows desktop?
