« on: March 11, 2006, 04:10:57 pm »
I know i have to hack a set of pc speakers which i have but the ones id hack are only a pair and i need 4 speakers.  what steps would i take to wire the 4 arcade speakers to the pc pair?

method 1 - hack 2 sets and use a headphone Y adaptor off the computer.

method 2 - connect 2 speakers in parallel to each side of the speakers you are hacking.

You have to weigh up having 1 volume control, cons with that if the speakers are not the right impedance it may overload the amp from the speakers and mean you get less overall power out of it before it distorts.

Or you could just buy a cheap stereo reciever and use real speakers

well i have two that are "real" and im going to get two more but i wasnt really sure about how to wire it so im looking at some others topics related to mine.

edit:need some clarifiction here if you dont mind, well even if you do,

so the arcade speakers i have are connected to the hacked pc which are connected to the audio port.

so on the arcade speakers i connect the 16gauge wire to what exactly?  to the amp right and the amp connects to the audio jack right?

thanks.

edit:
found this pic on this forum would i just use the setup in the top pic?

edit:opened the speakers i wanted to hack and i get the most of the steps now but the speakers i wanted to use have a power plug and battery slots so i would just cap the cables for the battery wires right?

Say I use the Amp PCB right, can i strip that outlet end and hook it up to the pc power supply somehow?

im not 100% sure but you may be able to use a molex connector from your psu if the pcb uses the right amount of power.
