Geez dude.  I'd be f'in pissed if someone did that to my house.  Get your money back on that job.  I can't believe they screwed up that nice woodwork so badly.

Oh believe me, I was (and still am) pissed.  I so very rarely get angry over stuff, or have the need to, that when I do get all pissed off it really stresses me out.  Luckily my fiancee and I plan on having kids soon after the wedding, so I will have much more frequent opportunities to work on my anger and stress management.

Wow.  I'm amazed at how people think they can do crappy work like this and still get paid for the job (much less stay in business)!

I do have one question, though.  If you were there when he did this, why would you not stop him in his tracks when he first started and get somebody else in there to lay the carpet?

I was there but I was in the other room, they were installing the entire floor so there wasn't room to really stand, and you don't want to get in their way.  Ignorant me but when I buy something from a huge place like Home Depot, I just figure that they are pros and they know what they are doing, but obviously I was wrong.

Saying the guys at home depot are professionals is like saying the guys at McDonald's are trained chefs.  Or the employees at Lowes are helpful.  

Remember, any store that could possibly be placed next to a store that ends in "mart" is low quality when it comes to installation.

I still say, "Wow."  I cannot believe how destructive they were.  I hope you get everything fixed with no problems.

In any case, you have given us all something to think about.  I'm about to buy a house for the first time, and I will certainly be on my toes with everything involved with that.

I've got her hooked on the "girlie" games like Uo-Poko, Tetris and Ultimate Tennis.  Thats cool though because I like them too!

Were they drunk or something???  We've had bad carpenters over before, they installed this entire sheet of wood panel on the floor, and A: it was crooked, B: they didn't install the lower softener so it was physically lower than the kitchen's wood, and C: they really did a number on some of the walls with their equipment.  Now I don't expect a 100% amazing job or anything, nobody's perfect, but DAAAAMn, at least have some respect for people's houses ya know.
   -I think there's some offices you can contact if these people don't offer to fix all of the wood they messed up, and you could probably get a nice settlement from them, like a new free installation of wood with guys that aren't gonna mess it up.  Just a suggestion.

It's probably better if you go with a store that specializes in carpetry next time.  No sense in letting a second party markup a service that you could purchase directly, then pass the buck when things go awry...

It's a shame that they made such a mess of your game room, it's understandable that you would be upset.

My local HD contracts all their installation, so it is likely you could get the same people installing it if you arbitrarily picked an installer out of the yellow pages.  

I'd bet HD will fix the problem (with a different installer) when you go to complain about the poor workmanship.  The upside is that you have an established business to complain to rather than Billy-Bob's Construction who could just blow you off.  Good luck on the repairs!
