Need some cabinet comparison pictures
« on: March 06, 2006, 05:36:20 pm »
I have just committed to purchasing this Dynamo cabinet which I intend to MAME.

Dimensions are:
W: 27.5"
D: 33"
H: 72.25"

My problem is, I am familiar with old classic cabs, such as 24" Williams or Atari cabs but I am having trouble visualising how much larger this cab is than the one I am familiar with (such as Defender.)  I realize that it is only slightly wider and deeper than those old cabs but I still can't picture it.

Can someone post gameroom pictures with a cab similar in size to mine next to other classic 24" cabs (if anyone has photos like that)

Here are pics of my (soon to be) cab:

Thanks, specfire

Do what I do. Do measure something in your house that's about that size.  Start with your washer and dryer.

I work in architecture; we'll do this sort of stuff all of the time.... push desks around and walk between them to be sure there's enough space... stuff like that.

your washer and dryer are more likely to give you an idea of the footprint.  I'd even consider measuring your refrigerator to give you an idea.

Sorry .. I don't have any Dynamo cut-corners here, but it is not as much bigger as you might think. I picked one up for my sister-in-law (GT2K) in the summer. It's about the same size as my MVS-2-25 (but lighter, IIRC), which is smaller than Asteroids and slightly bigger than Galaga.

Is this a "worried about space at home" or "worried about getting it in the vehicle" question ?

It's a nice solid cab, too .. you did good (and you got that bezel  ;)).

Cheers.

(he wants to use his Outback to transport it)

Spec: I used to own the same style cab. Here's a pic of one with a stool next to it. (Does it help?)
NO MORE!!

Man this forum is great!  So many people just waiting for the opportunity to help.  I really appreciate it.

As far as vehicle space, it should fit, but I am a little worried as it's going to be close.

It's really more of a "worried about space at home" kind of question.  I was just worried that it was going to end up looking much bigger than a classic size cab such as a Williams (which I remember playing.)   I don't want a large cab but I do want a 2 player so this did seem like the perfect fit.

RayB, the photo does help quite a bit, thanks.

Thanks again,  specfire
