I only saw this one a long time ago.
I'd hate to carry it though...

I had a carpenter friend who suggested using 1" Lexan (or maybe it was plexi) instead of layering it on top of wood. It's expensive in full sheets, but very strong.

I made a coffee table/subwoofer with a plexiglass top. It's a single piece(15" x 36") and only 3/8" thick. I paid 50$ for it, since it's plexiglass. To get it in 3/4" lexan would have easily been over 100$.

Polycarbonate (Lexan) is often used to build greenhouses.  You can get great prices from a greenhouse supplier, although it is usually multi-wall .

Someone made an all Lexan CP... I remember it being posted here after being sold on eBay (I think).  It had an LCD screen in it as well.

I don't have a link or pic though, sorry.

I have an all black plexi CP on my arcade machine. It was made from the same plexi that they use for boat cabinets. I haven't seen anyone else make something like this since the material is hard to find and I just happen to have a hookup :)

BTW, the machine looks a lot better now. I just can't seem to find a more recent complete picture :) Ignore the 14in monitor

I finally found the thing. Been looking for it for ages, but I knew I had it somewhere. here ya go:

(I made it clickable since the forum seems to shrink it so the picture looks horrible. So click and see the whole thing.)

Now nowing the filename I found another thread about it too

That transparent CP looks great.  Although, the control layout needs work.
Who built it?

Dunno who made it. It was on ebay and there was a thread about it (people complaining it looked good, but was crap anyway) Can't find the thread anymore though.

Lexan is crazy strong. That what the make the wall out of for battle bot and robot wars.  I made a small 5 pound bot and messed up my hand good but it was fun.

I seem to remember it going for pretty big bucks.

Here's a link I just found for a supplier of plastic sheets of various thicknesses.
Pricing is on the website.  Pretty pricey - >$700 for a 4'x8'x3/4" plexi sheet.  There's lots of types of plastic that they sell as well - links on the left side of the page.

http://k-mac-plastics.net/

keep in mind that you probably want to get something scratch resistant or else it won't be clear for long, if anyone's wearing a watch or rings while playing.

Is that an LCD screen inside of the control panel?  Wild.
