quick question about wireing coin ups

I realize you run your com and ground wires from your encoder to the microswith on the coin mech. My question is : Do you have to have any other power source  to the door ( Not worried about reject lights) I'm using one of those fame coin doors from happs. I was thinking i could just buy a cheap coin mech and i would be set.

If you have no lights then no extra power needed.  They wire up the same way as your buttons on the control panel.

Actually Com is short for common and ground is the same thing...... What I think you mean is that you run one common wire and one wire from each switch to the coin switch inputs on the encoder.  

Other than that, no you don't need any other connection. The switches are just the same as a button on your control panel just that they're pressed by the coin going by instead of by your finger pushing the button.

Like you said, unless you want to wire the coin door lights, you don't need another connection.

That is assuming that you are using a mechanical coin mech!  There are also some powered coin mechs out there, which are usually 5V DC .....

thanks woody . I just read a retroblast article on how to do it and I didn't realize that the micro switches were on the coin door its self ( mine doesn't have  them, the back is blank) I thought they were on the coon mechs.  I guess I will have to find a way to rig them on there in the right position or buy a real coin door.

Thats why I normally get lazy and have short posts, gets me in the door quicker

rlemmon, it may be easier for you to find a complete coin door, or you could certainly try to rig something up.  Post in the buy/sell/trade forum if you want a complete door, or look on ebay.  Good luck.
