Hey all,
What a great day. We headed down to the auction. My friend is opening up a new business and he will have a small game room in there too, so, we were out to buy. We got to the auction and it was games as far as the eye could see. Usually this is no big deal as most of the games suck. But not in this case buddy, this was an amazing site. I would say that at least 95% or more of the games worked and most were in nice shape. I took several pictures which I will try to post tomorrow. I spent the last hour typing up all the games from the auction. If I spelled one wrong, get over it. I saw many BYOAC folk today as well as a celebrity... well sort of. This was really cool. hehe, no love for the bustamove, huh?  Today was great; I was so excited to see all those cabs, I came home and worked on my own.  I was really impressed with the number of people; with the cold and the rain, I never expected that kind of turnout.  I hope the next one has as many great cabs as this one did.

I saw so many mortal kombats today, I hope I don't have nightmares :-\

I had made a seperate post about today also, I am just "pasting" here what I had in the other, you were typing same time as me :)

**************

Thanks for all the reading BYOC, thought I could return some contribution.  I attended the Atlanta SuperAuction today.  13% buyer premium, 8% sales tax, tons of stuff for sale (by other auction results I have seen).  I am interested in any good deals in this list if you have an opinion.

It is worth noting that SuperAuctions had advertised that this was the last time "at this location" which I think led people to believe it was the last auction to ever be held in Atlanta.  This wasn't correct, they are just in danger of losing their site they usually use as the fairground in considering knocking down the old warehouse type building they use for the auctions.  This may have upped the consignments since there was some confusion.  They are hunting a new location to resume in Atlanta.

Other notes, just my opinion (nothing against dealers) ;)

* Lots of dealers bidding stuff up all over the place and then dropping out
*1 particular guy probably bought 50 things and seemingly hurt the "normal" guy being able to get something :O
* Some people were wayyy over market IMO on junk :)
* Mysteriously several things I noticed that had been working fine were not when the bidding began.  This included 2 specific items I wanted that the "same" guy mysteriously big very high on IMO given they were not working :)
* Someone in the know please comment about the prices on the Multicades...
* I would estimate that I am missing about 30 items.
*  I bought 2 jukeboxes, 1 NSM and 1 Rowe R-94 with Sony 10 CD already installed, both full of records etc.

this was an awesome arcade auction!  I was surprised at how many people bid wayyy over the actual cost of cabinets (btw, what was up with that mystery cab that sold for 200??? unbelievable).

Yesterday was great; got to meet a couple of new people that hadn't been to one of the auctions and some people that were beginning their collections :)  It sucks getting up early, but it's great meeting friends.

It was great meeting ArtMame, MYX and James from Retroblast.  Not sure who Patent Doc or RoBoCoP was, but I'm sure I saw ya!

And for those who are not getting the scope of this auction. It was really really really fdddrigin big (in yer best scotish accent). (BTW this is Row 2)

Also, next time we sould go in shifts to take down prices. It is a real pain in the butt. It was also fun. ???
Thanks to TravistyOJ for finishing taking prices when I was tired of it. I am getting a little nervous because the movers have not arrived with my games and still have not even called. I am feeling a little sick about it. Neil who bought these games did not want to put these in storage so they will live at my house for 2 weeks to a month  :'(     He really had to twist my arm     ;).
Centipede x 2
Multicade 39 game
ThunderBlade
RoadBlasters
Leathal Enforcers
Air Hockey

One asside. As a thanks for helping him with getting the games and offering to help fix up the ones he bought, he gave me one of the 2 Centipedes. Yeah, my wife has claimed it and now states that it IS hers. Well, ok as long as I get to play it.

One of these days I'll drive over to Jersey to check out an auction - I've never gone to one. Seems like the prices were a bit high though. The thing that really kills me is the "buyer premium", I can handle the sales tax, but an extra 13% on top of tax? Seems like a ripoff. Do the sellers have to pay to list their cabs too?

If I understand correctly, no.  That's what a buyers premium is.  You're paying the sellers fees for auctioning off a cabinet when you win it.

13% seems pretty high.  The local auctions I've been to only charge 10%, but it still creeps up on you.

If you are going to sell they take %13.9 off your winnings too.

From the Super Auctions Site:
How much does it cost to sell my items?
We're proud to offer the lowest rates in the country!  Bring us 15 pieces or more and our commission is only 9.9%.  Bring less than 15 pieces and pay only 13.9% * commission.  Each item will be charged a $14 entry fee.
* CA customers- 16.9%

I did a calculation in excel and I just left it as all sellers brought 15 pieces
$101,465.00 Total sales that I wrote down. This does not include pool tables, megatouch, redemption or gambling games.
$13,190.45 From buyers 13%
$10,146.50 From Sellers 10%

Hmm.. the local guy here that has auctions on occasion doesn't charge sellers anything, at least when I asked.  I guess that's the "good 'ol boy" mentality we have out here in the middle of no where.  ;D

WORST.

PICTURE.

EVER.

Ugh. I ALWAYS blink which is funny because MYX didn't even use a flash!!!!

Anyway, it was great getting to meet some BYOAC'ers finally and the auction was a blast.  Wish I could have stayed longer and actually purchased a game or two, but I had to rush over to Home Depot to pickup some hardware to mount my 25" monitor in a Dynamo cab I am working on.

By the way, here is a better picture of me for future reference as well as a snap of the new RetroBlast / GameRoom tokens I was handing out at the show. If you were at the auction you may have seen these placed on marquees and control panels throughout the show.

At least once someone was following me scooping them up as fast as I put them down so someone has a real stash of these now!

Man, I am so jealous. I think it is a good thing that I didn't go, because I would have ended up buying something that won't fit in my house, haha. Were they selling any parts at all? Anyways, next auction I need to find out early when it is so that I can get off work and go for once and for all.

Hey the tokens are awesome. I got about 5 or 6 then I found a handful of tokens from some arcade in the hydrothunder game I was looking at. When I looked in the Congo Bongo to try to coin it up, there was about a dollar in change. Hey it nearly bought me a coke. It's funny. I remember CB being a heck of a lot harder and cooler when I was young. It seemed very slow and easy at the auction. The moving people finally called and will be delivering the stuff tonight after 6pm.

Gonna hijack my own thread and give an up date about the auction games.

So the movers arrived. Just a word about movers and if there are any on this board I am sorry if this seems offensive. But these guys did not care about the value we feel for these games. This guy was just rippin the games around the truck. Rotating them on a corner sometimes. Little bits of game shaving off all over my driveway and garage. Nothing too destructive, but still upsetting. the air hockey legs are missing the levelers off 2 legs??? Sorry sir, we'll go back and check the warehouse... Sure you will.

So we got the games into the garage and I got to start playing. It is amazing to me the amount of grunge that appears in the games.

I started cleaning up the games. Several of the games have locks but no keys. I pulled out the lock pics and started working on RoadBlasters. the locks were a little fussy, but after a couple of minutes I had them open. Blanket -o- Dust. This game was near toxic with dust. I pulled out the paint brush and shop vac and went to town.

Holy smokes man, thats a lotta dirt! The games look good, you should open up your own arcade in the garage. Make some change back, I'd stop by for sure!

Wow!!!...did you really get them all in that tiny little garage???

I finally got my Williams High Impact Football Cabinet into my garage.  I had to wrestle that beast off of my truck and into the garage by myself...

Here are some pics:

Notice it has FOUR...count 'em FOUR n...i...c...e... Wico Balltops. The control panel and the marquee are in great shape...The bezel glass is perfect, I could not find a single scratch on it!!!

If you think that that is a thick layer of dust, you don't work in the coin op business.

Nice score on the High Impact. I don't think I have ever seen a dedicated HI. I'd love to have one some day.
