  • I want to build my own arcade controls!

I managed to rotate my monitor from Vertical to Horizontal orientation in my Galaga cabinet, using the horizontal monitor mount brackets that I purchased from Mike's Arcade.  However, the pre-drilled holes in this bracket are not in the center, and as a result I am not sure whether I have installed it correctly, or upside down. At this stage, the lower edge of the monitor, is quite close to the control panel (about 2-3 inches). If I flip the brackets around, the monitor will move upwards (away from the control panel) by a few inches.

Therefore for all the Bosconian (are there any other horizontal games with the MsPac/Galaga style cabinet?) owners out there - what is the distance between the bottom edge of the glass (of the CRT) and the top edge of the control panel?

Thanks
Olaf

Sadly, I don't know the answer to your question, but my understanding is that Bosconian was a different cabinet, although it certainly looked similar.

RGVAC discussion on the differences

DISCLAIMER: I don't have a Bosconian cab (I do have a PacMan that was converted to horizontal) and never seen one in the flesh, so these guys could be blowing smoke ..

Cheers.

I've had the same problem from Mike.

That's just how he does them.

I believe the best way would be for you to get hold of an original glass Rally-X or Bosconian bezel and let that guide you. It shouldn't be a problem to drill new holes on the mounting brackets thereafter.

Or search the net or eBay auctions for cabinet pics to guide you.

Sucks, I know.

I managed to find a picture of the Bosconian Bezel over at 'ClassicArcadeGrafix.com'. I then imported the image into Visio, and scaled it up to 23 inches wide (which is how wide the internal width of the cabinet is), and then measured the remaining edges.

It appears to be approximately 3 inches (give or take seeing as I scaled up a fairly poor quality image) or 2 15/16" according to Visio. (See the attached diagram, which unfortunately shows the bezel upside down, I realized that too late).

Can anyone confirm that the golden number here is 3 inches?

Thanks
Olaf
