Stuck, ideas please.
« on: February 24, 2006, 12:23:46 pm »
Ok I have done it now. I got my monitor framt together and installed easily. Almost too easily. I put the monitor in and it went together beautifully...Untill I shut the cab back door. It would not shut all the way do to the depth of the monitor frame. I have discussed using a saws all but I am think that that much vibration would be bad for the monitor. A friend recomended that I dremil it with a saw off wheel. I had thought of this as well and it seems to be the best solution. But before I do something stupid, I wanted to pass this by you guys. HERE is that portion of my project thread.

We also joked that I could just cut a hole in the back door and another in the wall behind the cab. no one would ever see it.

Dremel that for sure man. Is the monitor mounted permanently already? You might have an easier time just marking where to cut, then taking the monitor off and cutting it outside of the cab. Just a note of advice, make sure you wear some good goggles and you have plenty of cut-off wheels for the dremel. The stupid things break often, and they fly all over the place. I got one right next to me eye once, maybe a half an inch the other way and I'd only have 1 left :/.   If you can't take the monitor out, just be careful that you don't go too deep into the MDF, but I think you should be A OK cutting through that stuff. Keep us posted!

No the monitor is not in there permanant. The frame idea was so I can get it in and out. Yeah, the cut off wheels work well but hurt like a >insert favorite word< when they break. I was thinking about marking it then pulling it out for the cutting.
