Hey guys I'm new here but I'm not new to arcade gaming! I own four units and now I'm making a fifth I own a San Francisco Rush 2049, NBA JAM, Centipede, and Galaga.
Anyways I'm not going to talk about those units, instead I'm going to talk about my mame cabinet.
I work for a company in Sunnyvale, CA called WeirdStuff Warehouse we do computer re-marketing and we also do building clean-outs and one of the VERY cool buildings we were able to go and clean out was the Ultracade building!!!! You know they are merging with Global VR and they are all going to be under one roof so Ultracade moved in with Global VR. Anyways we got all the development "trash" and about 20 empty cabinets, and some dedicated JAMMA motherboards like Donkey Kong, Street Fighter II, and Jr. PAC-MAN.
One of the really cool things that we got was a couple devices called "JAMMALinx" Apparently they interface standard jamma connectors and controls with your PC! I'd like to play with it but there is no documentation on the web about it! I also got a bunch of Quantum3D Quicksilver II systems and Quantum3D GCI (Game Control Interface) boards which apparently do the same sort of thing.
Point is I've got all this cool stuff but I don't know how to use it at all!!!!
On a better note I've taken one of their Street Fighter II cabinets that was empty and I'm currently in the process of turning it into a mame machine! I stripped the side-art and stuff so now it looks like a nice plain black cabinet. I've gutted a Quicksilver II chassis that was a Hydro Thunder game and stuck in and Athlon XP 2000+ running Windows XP Pro and a gig of ram with a ATI Radeon 9200 with s-Video output. I got a 27" sony television free and I'm going to stick it in there. We got buttons and joysticks when we did the clean-out so I'm going to use those, and lastly I've ordered the KeyWiz to control the whole set-up! It's coming along quite nicely and It looks like a real arcade cab, not at all like a franken-cab!
