old laptop help
« on: February 19, 2006, 08:14:32 pm »
???  I was given an old pentium 266 laptop that was sitting in some boxes at work.  The guy who had it said it was fine when he turned it in.  He got upgraded but the computer was fine.  The reformatted the drive and gave it to me.  Here is the problem when I first turn it on it seems to be fine and then I get this error.   Resource Conflict- PCI at Slot 2
                                    Bus:00, Device:13, Function:00
then I get message to F1 to resume or F2 to enter setup.  I have tried to change nearly everything in the bios screen and unhooked everything with no change.   Could some of the computer guru's in the bunch have any ideas?  Would like to use this for a small cab if I can get going.
Thanks for your time

Set the bios values to default and see how you go. Almost ALL BIOS's have this function.

thanks for the advice Brad, did this and did not help.  It is an old Ascential P series laptop.  Coincidnetally my wife bought me a laptop for my birthday a few days ago.  So I am only so interested in fixing it now.  I have the computer, power adapter, cd rom unit and dock for this thing.  If anyone interested let me know.  Not worth much really
