From your experience do you recommend having the package insured or have you had no problems uninsured? Its going to cost

l was just asking the same question in another post. The guy l was ordering from mentioned airmail with insurance, which i thought would mean that it could be tracked down. But  he mentioned that the only way the package can be tracked by me is express mail.

Can anyone confirm this?
So whats the point of having insurance with airmail if it cant be tracked?

By the way the package been sent is from America to Australia.

Cheers

I have no experience on the international insurance, but I'll give you my opinion in general.  I always try to think about what I would have to go through to collect on the insurance.  Is it you or the shipper that has to fill out all of the insurance info?  How much of a hastle will it be and how much money are you going to get back?

In your case, lets ignore the effort it would take to collect on the insurance.  if you take the insurance, you are definitely going to lose 20, but you eliminate the risk of losing 50.  I say don't pay the 20 for insurance and the worse case is you lose 30 more than you would have lost if you took the insurance and hand to collect on it.  Most likely nothing will happen to the shipment, and then you come out 20 ahead.  Almost half the value of the order is a pretty steep price for insurance, do they loose half of the shippments :-)
This opinion was created from 100% post consumed information.

Thanks for the replys.

I'm going to go uninsured and take the chance.Nothing in the package is fragile so whats the point really and like you say I bet it's a big hassle trying to collect on it anyway.

I thought it would be tracked also, suppose you could always claim, even if it does arrive ;)

Unless its over $50.00 in value i would not bother, insurance takes 6 to 8 weeks, & its a real hassle
thanks

I use USPS Priority for all my shipping Worldwide.

I do not insure any packages.  I have had no damages or loses.
