ball-top mag-stik or mag-stik plus dimensions?

any of you who have ball-top mag-stiks - can you measure the length of the stick, from the top surface of the base to the top of the ball?

i'm interested in both the "regular length" ball-top stick, and the "long length" version. the ultimarc website lists these as 2 1/2" and 2 7/8" but doesn't say how those lengths are measured. there's also a diagram on their website, but is only for the bat-top version, not either of the ball-top versions.
