Removing decal artwork from laminate cabinet?
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:18:01 pm »
Just got my hands on a cabinet that has a couple layers of decal artwork on the laminated sides.

Sloppy job and needs to come off.  Has anyone done this before?  Any idea on how to do it with minimal impact to the laminate?

Just thought I'd run it by the crew before I created a big mess.

Thanks!

Hair Dryer, Goo b Gone and Patience may help.

A heat gun, and a rubber scraper...I've used the kind that sign companies use to apply vinyl...worked well, but I assume if you leave it too long on the laminate, it would be bad for it...

A heat gun, and a rubber scraper...

You mean the edge of the scraper itself is made out of rubber?  Available at places like Lowes? ???

I was looking for something of this nature so I could do the scraping without gouging the laminate.  Thanks!  8)

The ones we used to use were just small rubber rectangles, that were tapered, it was a squeegee of sorts...
