Good design program??
« on: February 10, 2006, 08:59:30 am »
I'm begining to design a Battletech pod I will be making and I wanted to see what other programs people use for drawings and schematics?  I've used AutoCad in the past and would prefer to stay away from it for this project.

What other software products exist that are good for diagrams of three dimensional objects?

you could use sketchup.

Most of my mates use it to mock up PC case mods.  It seems to be useful for visualisation but not having used it myself I don't know about proper measurements, scale etc..

The fact you can get lots of add-ins for it so you have pre-built hard drives, optical drives and stuff suggests that it more than likely does.

By the way, I wholeheartly agree with Teebor.
Sketchup is definitely the way to go for quick design drawings.

If I knew AutoCAD better I'm sure I'd use that.  But I dont....so there you have it.

Just my $0.02 worth

Good Luck.
