bios screen rolling with 27" tv (svideo) (hardware related???)

i've done a search on this but can't find anything from the boards in way of an answer.  does anyone know what causes the bios screen to "roll" at the beginning?  im using a 27" tv with svideo.  is there a way to stop this from happening?

I just bought an offbrand Radeon 9250 card and my TV does the same thing.  I was also wondering about this.

My NVidia GeForce 5200 video card did the exact same thing....well, on the BIOS screen and boot screens anyway.

Once Windows had fully booted it was fine. (that is it was fine on the warning screens from Mame).  I was told that it was that the card couldn't handle that particular output resolution properly on televisions. (I had it hooked up via s-video).

I finally pulled an ATI card out of another computer and swapped them.

Boots fine now.  No rolling.

Just my $0.02 worth.
Good Luck

The cause of this problem is that your TV out cards only work at TV frequency when the drivers have initialised and told them what to output.

Because the drivers are not initialised at bootup, the card is expecting to be outputting to a VGA Monitor and not a TV. Only when the windows drivers kick in does it understand what you are connected to.

Hence the rolling bios screens.  As far as I know, there is no cure for this one. Unless the card manufacturer actually thought about it in the first place.

I have the exact same issue with my ArcadeVGA. If I want to read the BIOS I need to adjust my vertical hold then re-adjust for Windows.

My ATI (radeon 8500 I think) does the same thing.  I didn't have this problem with my oooold nvidia card (riva TNT) using the same TV.

Mine also rolls in the windows startup screen (win2000).  After the initial desktop/mouse appears is when it finally clears up.
