I've already mailed Andy at Ultimarc to see if he can help but I was hoping the community may have some ideas in the meantime...

I recently purchased (last week) an ArcadeVGA card and J-PAC.

I have an original Capcom vs SNK cabinet which is what I'm using the mame machine in, Its a 15khz monitor..... I have windows xp installed on the pc and the ArcadeVGA drivers installed... (I cleaned all other ATI drivers before installation etc)

I'm connected with the 15khz jumper on the J-PAC and lights show on the J-PAC while connected. DOS picture looks fine, The windows XP loading screen shows fine but shows in black and white.

It then boots into XP, but it is also in black and white also although it seems to have a slight hint of blue... the Capcom vs SNK game is using the sega niomi hardware and its ths snk jamma convertor shows in perfect colour etc so it's not the monitor....

But I can't work out what it is.. I've tried cleaning drivers, reinstalling etc etc but it's not helping, I've adjusted every monitor setting on the arcade screen... I also went through all the posts in the Ultimarc forums and couldn't find anything similar...

Also although I haven't concentrated on testing yet but at the moment I'm not seeing the controls working through the JPAC when connected on USB...

I am coming up with a USB error on a device though, could this be related? I suspected it may be related to the controls not working but to be honest I've been far more concerned about the picture as right now its basically unusable.

Do you think I may have a faulty JPAC or ArcadeVGA card? Any help would be appriciated

Also it may be worth mentioning I haven't removed anything from the cabinet yet, although I disconnected the power from the sega niomi unit. I am definately inserting the jamma connector right etc as it has a notce to prevent putting it in the wrong way...

One slight update, no matter what I tried in the BIOS and windows for the USB device for the J-PAC it would not install the drivers right for it... I tried USB 1.1/2.0, Legacy mode etc etc and it just came up as unknown device everytime.... So I converted the USB to PS/2 using a mouse convertor I had and after rebooting I tested my controls... They worked perfectly

However my picture is still black and white (grey scale), I can't figure this out at all.... Its definately no control settings on the arcade monitor as i've tried all combinations. Also I'd prefer to use the J-PAC in USB mode has any one seem that other issue at all?

Like I mentioned before if I plug the machine back into the original jamma board (convertor sega niomi) the monitor is bright and colorful and wonderful.

/cry

I am having the same problem with a black and white display using the J-PAC and arcadeVGA on an arcade monitor. Although unlike your case, my J-PAC is working properly through USB for the controls.

Did you ever figure out a solution to this problem?

Thanks
